Finally got round to watching J. Edgar (2011) and it was a real disappointment.

I expected it to be an exploration of Hoover's character and how he misused the enormous resources at his disposal to blackmail presidents.

Instead it was just a Leonardo di Caprio acting showcase; a very shallow film, worthless script and intensely dull.

    2/10

Thank you for your comprehensive review of this film. I saw it years ago and thought it to be so poor as to be not worthy of a review by me.

I do apologise, you've obviously mistaken me for someone who gives a fuck what you think.

Watched Jason Bourne last night, fast paced and enjoyable, Tommy Lee Jones the star of the movie for me!
    He's not big on moisturizing!

I get the feeling they are churning these out just to make money now.

Paul Greengrass' directing style is irritating beyond belief, and now that he writes the things, there is no plot at all, just a succession of scenes designed to showcase his fights and chases.

    I wouldn't give it more than 3/10.

^ I enjoyed it! I don't watch that many movies, just how many Bourne movies are there? I thought only one other.............

I suspect your "feeling" shocking though it may be, that they are only making these movies to make money could well be right Sir!
That's the world we live in now, its like crops aint it, not grown for nutrition anymore just money!!!!!
3/10 - I have never watched a movie that I could score so low, I would have turned it off..............

I actually watched the latest Bourne movie at the cinema. Enjoyed it, but it's exactly the same as the rest of them. Honestly, you could watch them all back to back in any order you like and not realise until that bird snuffs it with the thumb drive.

I left it running in the background while I read the news, just in case there was any actual story other than "Who killed my dad, oh him, OK I'm going to get him".

    Five in the current incarnation.

Plus a miniseries from the 80's with Richard Chamberlain played Bourne, which while being more faithful to the original book plotwise, was just a big tin of ham.

You certainly managed to sum up the movie very well
How can you not admire a man who heals so well!!
I hope the others have as good a story line!

There is a dearth of decent movies about!

    "Our Kind Of Traitor"

Ewan McGregor and Stellan Starsgard in a decent version of a John Le Carre novel.

McGregor (a Uni professor) and his wife (played by the lovely Naomie Harris) play a couple on holiday who just happen to bump into the charismatic and mega-rich Russian gangster "Dima". After a flamboyant party and a game of tennis, Dima informs them that he is a money-launderer for the Russian mob, and his family is in danger. He wants McGregor to return to London and ask the MI6 for safe passage for his family in return for a lot of dirty secrets.
Lots of double-crossings and who-can-you-trust scenarios unfold in a quite engrossing movie. Give it a go. 7/10 for me.

    9/10.
Saw that a few days ago on a flight. And then yesterday I went pig hunting for the first time ever (dogs and a knife) and felt like the mother in that film! Well worth a download.

    Hacker (2015).

Crap script, crap acting, and the added hoot of some bloke stuck in his own cell at Bang Kwang at the end.

    Don't waste your breath.

    2/10.

Just watched The Swiss Army Man.

A tad unusual, perhaps, but I'm confident 'Arry would love it. Scorewise, an 8/10 for the more freeminder folks, and a 3/10 for the more conventional folks.

    ^^ I doubt you'd enjoy it, Davis.

^ 'Arry, you'd love it, mate, but make sure you watch it through to the end when it all comes together...

    LoopyLoops, you'd like it.

If Papillion is around, he'll love it; right up his alley.

Anybody see Burnt (2015) with Bradley Cooper? This is the original that does everything perfectly that Burnt tried to copy, starting with the dialogue. Of course, you've gotta luv cooking or at least food.

I actually quite enjoyed that movie. Nothing complex, just an easy going, feelgood film.

No silly, the cake is for you to celebrate your tenth anniversary of ladyboy cock sucking.

    Have you ordered it yet?

Only three days to the anniversary innit?
