Phee, jing joks or logical explanation please!

Last night as I was lying in bed between waking and sleeping I was startled by the sound of the TV turning on. I looked up and sure enough the TV was on and it was, amazingly, switched to HDM2 on the You Tube App screen instead of HDM1 regular TV where it was when I turned it off after watching a movie. The remotes were on the night stand and I had not touched them.
How in the hell could this have happened? Has anyone ever experienced a TV turning on by itself. The only thing I could think of was a jing jok walked across my remote but that seems impossible.

Never had the TV come one but had something similar happen once. I woke up during the night to see a strange glow at the foot of my bed reflected in the mirror. Turned over to sleep but had to look one more time. Glow is still there. Pulled the covers up and burrowed in and heard the click of my lamp switch. Sure enough, the light came on my itself. I have no explanation for it. Just happened.

I can't come up with a rational explanation. The TV control has nothing to do with any android devices in the house. How could my HDM setting change by itself?

My Microwave packed up so I took it to the local repairman. He gave it back a few days later saying he couldn't find the fault. Not trusting Thais I decided to have a look inside. Nothing to lose.
Low and behold I found a dead Gecko bridging 2 terminals. The Gecko was struck to the terminals so I pealed it off. The Micro worked perfectly well after that.

Not likely but possibly a power interuption or surge triggered tv turn on.

Last month the same thing happened to one of my air con units. Repairman found one that shorted out the circuit panel. 2500 baht to fix it.

Quite possibly. When I have my computer on "sleep", anything I turn on or off on the same power board causes the computer to turn back on.

It occured to me this afternoon to 'google' it too. Could be worn out batteries in the remote.

I once walked passed my kitchen door in the middle of the night on route to the bathroom. Something not quite right registered , on my return i checked the kitchen to discover it was extremely hot in the room. A bright light on the hob showed me that two of the halogen rings were on full.
This was a real mystery until two days later peering through the window i noticed my 40kg Rhodesian Ridgeback standing with her paws on the touch controls, checking out the pans on the back of the hob...No Phee

Humbert did you find out the cause of the problem? Reason I ask was because I had a light that wouldn't come on. I checked everything, bulb, starter, power etc. I did notice some ants within the switch box and thought nothing of it and blew them out.

Anyways everything pointed to the actual light switch being faulty so I took it out and took it apart. Low and behold the fcuking thing was packed wall to wall with baby ants and eggs. No wonder the switch was faulty.

    Ants may be your problem?

I changed the batteries on my remote. Haven't had any more events.

I don't see any evidence of ants on the TV cabinet but every morning there are a few jing jok turds to clean up. Buggers, can't get rid of them. Tried putting mothballs around but they're effectiveness only lasts a few days. The jing joks come back when the smell recedes. I've got big ones, tiny ones. At a loss to know how to get rid of the little devils.

I have those sticky fly papers in the kitchen and if I leave one out near a night light source the flies are attracted to the light and the Gecko's are attracted to the flies and get stuck on the fly paper.

Set sticky traps. Many of the insects that geckos eat are drawn to light, so, oftentimes, geckos will hang out in those areas. Placing some flypaper near light sources will not only catch geckos’ pesky food source, but will likely catch the geckos themselves.[5]
    • A good position to place the flypaper is on the inside of the light bulb’s shade/housing.
    • You can also set glue boards or sticky cards near windows or other outdoor entryways.
    • If you find a live gecko stuck in one of your sticky traps, you can unstick it and set it free by pouring vegetable oil over the trap. It’s nasty – but humane!

You can spray your house with insecticide every week and get rid of the jingjoks. They've nothing to eat and leave or are poisoned by it. I know this because I once had a housekeeper who liberally sprayed after she cleaned the house.

I prefer jingjoks with their little turds to keep mosquitos and flies under control.

Yeah, the Thais think I'm nuts for wanting to get rid of them.

I might try the insecticide. Everybody hates the smell though.
