^ exactly... until battery technology catches up, 4k is just a marketing ploy for geeks...(and Dick dohh!).

I think they have refined phone technology more than enough now anyway..

What else can they cram into our devices that will revolutionize our life?

Butt vibrating function? Sheep mating call?

Huawei and OPPO make some really nice high-end but not high-end price phones. Right up there with Samsung for 1/2 the cash.

    Superior camera
Best camera I've ever used, and I've had DSLRs, and a couple of Canon point-and-shoots (still great pics from those though).

^ All that impressive spec sheet means naught (if the software coding is not able to make use of it)

I.e. perform its functions in a smooth manner.

Not dissing that particular breed of phone..just making a point.

Clean android is ok, it's the heavy overlay of touchwiz on samsung devices that impedes performance.

Maybe that's why my sg6 is glitchy as fook.. I've rooted the bejesus out of it...spunked too much man-goo into it..

Kidding... back in dreary old NZ on Saturday...I'll wipe it clean (of my jizz) then update to marshmellow... then I'll re-evaluate the bitch...

*Fancy asking a Kiwi if he knows how to root.. cheeky sod

^ it's just a big black cock that'd fit nicely in those large hands of Baldrick. Would you like the firm and proud shot or the money shot?

The ASUS Zenfone range is great - I had the Zenfone 5. Great phone, cheap as chips. After Samsung I would get an ASUS (if in Thailand).

Every phone is locked and full of shit in China.

So, enjoy the choices you have in Thailand. May be Junta-run, but you can still buy a phone without restrictions (or do I stand corrected?)

I have a Samsung SII that is still going strong after 4 years...I keep meaning to change the battery but it soldiers on.

I bought the wife an S6 last summer and it is much better; she loves the camera, which apparently makes even a Richard III look good.

Plenty of good phones on the market and it is really down to personal preference, but we used the S6 instead of a tablet or laptop for 6 weeks last year in Thailand. I had to wait until I got back to Europe before I could process any DSLR photos, but for everyday internet access it was enough.

Ok. I'm running the new long awaited marshmellow 6.1.0
    Update.

It has been nagging me to update for a few days now and I have been postponing the update until I get back to NZ.

This morning, I could have sworn I pushed the home button on seeing the update pop up, but to my dismay the bugger activated the install process.

So here we are getting ready to fly to Yokohama from Fukuoka and I'm stressing out big time, worried my pics will be erased or I'll be locked out of my phone, etc..paranoid I know..

Anyway, all went well..so here is my update as promised.

Much, much smoother and more fluid...typing is very precise now (no annoying lag)
    Scrolling webpages much smoother..
    Camera opens almost instantly now..
Ram management of aps seems optimized 700 MB free now where in lollipop I'd only have 400 MB free.

So yeah, feels like a new phone.. this will be an acceptable experence until iphone 7s comes out.

Oh, battery life seems much better now too. Overall, Dick is a happy chappy.

All typed out on the train from Tokyo airport to our hotel (Yokohama bay Hotel tokyu) without too msmy typos.. well impressed.

^^ there we go, I new you had something about ya.
Apparently the Note 6 is due this summer, and is rumoured to have many of the features of the S7 (water/dustproof, expandable storage etc. Also rumoured to have 8 Gb RAM.

I got the S7 Edge a couple of months ago, and am very pleased with it. Fantastic screen, very fast loading with 4 Gb RAM, and the battery of 3600 a/h seems to go on forever. But, fairly serious money of course and many of it's attractions a lot of people wouldn't want or be prepared to pay for.
Bought the Edge used it for a day then gave it to my daughter and went and bought another I phone
