Bought an the exact same 4GB HyperX Fury, stuck it in.
Definitely an improvement having 8GB instead of only 4.
Nothing really special being used, usually between 6-10+ tabs of chrome open, which is a RAM eater in itself. And a folder or two, opening different media files.
Operates faster, it was often at about 3GB usage doing this, so having 7GB+ of usable RAM is good.
But the CPU usage is still high so still not as fast as I'd like it. Like motorbikes, you will never have enough power and always want faster.
So how about increasing CPU speed? With the least amount of effort possible. No reinstalling my OS as part of the process, if possible.
Try overclocking with MSI afterburner or something similar, don't blame me if you fry your pc.

Nothing beats installing a SSD for your OS. A new install is not necessary. It's quite easy to transfer the existing OS to the new drive. If you don't want to do it yourself, your trusted computer shop will do it. It's almost shocking how much faster it runs.
It's not like you have a slow CPU right now. Though of course there are always faster ones.

With WIN 7 you can do it without extra software. Do a backup of C: Make a recovery DVD, that's part of the system too. Put in the new one. Boot with recovery DVD and restore system to the new drive. Or often SSD come with their own transfer software package. At least they used to.Originally Posted by Luigi
Cheers.
Something I might look into.

I got 16Gb in my X230. Just so I can run virtual machines. I am not a gamer.
With many motherboards you can mix and match the RAM.
Different size should not matter. Different speeds also will often be OK.
If you mix the RAM speeds then all the RAM will run at the speed of the slowest chip.
Good info Looper.
Any beach photos of chicks with their RAMs accidentally hanging out? Just to check how fast my new RAM is, of course.
Yes, and usually it works.Originally Posted by Looper
Those slots come in pairs. You can freely mix between pairs as long as you keep the single pair with the same memory. The real problem is that it may seem to work and it will take time to find out it doesn't. It's not worth the risk. Anyway as Luigi found the identical RAM he will be OK.
Luigi have you caught something off that fat dark skinned bird ?
It's not natural for a man of your age to while away Your weekend alone, sat there in your bbq rib stained snide Calvin Klein jockeys, scheming up ways to beat teenagers on

Aww, that's cute Daffodil.
Actually got Goodfellas on Gomplayer and one of the two main mistresses online in various stages of undress.
Might post some pics.
In the interest of, err, RAM.
All this ramming might have caught some dirty virus that is eating up your memory.Originally Posted by Luigi
