Some time ago a poster mentioned a site he recommended for the direct download of movies - not torrents.
I can not now find the post.

Does anyone have a recommendation?

I too prefer torrents but there are times when a direct download suits my needs.

Why do you want direct downloads?

Do you mean a streaming site?

Get yourself an Android TV box and stick Kodi on it. You won't have to download anything then, although I've just discovered Flud which pisses all over utorrent

A direct download suits a particular purpose. I can use the work wifi which is excellent.

No interest in streaming or kodi etc. My internet connection in the sticks is poor to say the least.

Interesting, but apparently Flud is closing down in August :

Starting August 8th, Flud will no longer be in service. The company will move forward by selling its technology and intellectual property, but Flud CEO Bobby Ghoshal did not detail the reason behind the application's exit from the marketplace. Users have till August 8 to download all their data, before the service is discontinued.

But I would recommend you download a Bittorrent and download torrents from Kickass or Piratebay.

I don't understand why you would want to only download Direct Downloads when torrents are normally much quicker to download?

I use torrents daily at home where i have a lousy internet connection.
I can not use torrents at work due to a firewall.
However I can download files very quickly at work via mega or zippyshare - not stopped by firewall.
So I am now seeking some alternative sources for direct download for movies.

Thanks for the all the suggestions Dillinger.
I think I might have found something that will suit my needs.
I will post it here but from the responses above it would appear that there is little interest.
I too prefer torrents but this did not suit my particular need this time
