    Squidbillies!!

Has anyone seen this yet? I saw it last week late on a Friday night on the Cartoon Network. Merciless, adult, irreverent, RUDE, absurd, offensive, outrageous, smart, satirical animated Hillbilly squids, simply drawn, that wear baseball caps, drink paint thinner and fire shotguns (like "Early," the main character). The dangling grandmother, hideously overdone wife and hapless squid son are perfect, but it's hard to describe; I've never really seen anything like this before. Very fast and funny dialogue. Here's a good torrent:

Squidbillies Complete Season 1 Individual DivX Episodes » Torrentspy.com

"The show follows a family of hillbilly squids that live in the north Georgia mountains. The show revolves primarily around two squids, Early Cuyler and his son Rusty Cuyler, living in abject poverty, and trying to reconcile their relationship following Early's fifteen-year incarceration for armed robbery."

"Rusty becomes a ward of the state after the discovery of a crystal meth lab in Lil's hair salon, and is placed in his grandmother's care, but flees out of boredom of her stories of Jesus being president when she was a girl. Depressed and dejected, Rusty attempts to take his own life before he is saved and raised by a family of Wolves, and is torn apart by them many times before filling his body with 300 lbs. of nitroglycerin and blowing them to pieces which, fortunately for the wolves, is only a dream. Sort of a cross between the smart slapstick of the Simpsons and the biting satire of South Park but with a touch of inspired hilarity.

It's a rather slow torrent; it took a while but turned out fine (I use Utorrent with Media Player Classic).

101 and 102 are both good, as well as 112: "Meth O.D. To My Madness" when the meth lab explodes...

I've watched the show since it premiered on Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network here in America more than a year ago. Wierd show, but funny. Humor may go over the heads of the British folks here.
Strange thing is, Some members of my Sister-and Laws family in West Virginia would fit in perfectly in this show. Not that they're really squids or anything.

^ Well I think they've nailed the accents and the regionalism, which might appeal to the English, as their culture is also so attuned to accent and local culture.

The show is irreverent, vulgar, satirical, allegorical, and bloody. I like the quavering voice of Early's mother, the little yellow blob that dangles gymnastic style from her walker, and Dan Halen, the strange little man with the bombastic voice like Orson Welles who is the leader of the evil Georgia Public Schools Corporation and rides around on a griffin he summons with Elizabethan commands.

These are some of the things that have been written on Early's grimy hats:
    • "World's Greatest Illegitimate Daddy"
    • "Breathe If You're Horny"
    • "Groom"
    • "Booty Hunter"
    • "GLUG" (the name of a blindness-inducing alcohol created by Early and brewed by Dan Halen)
    • A buck (male deer) with scribbles, used as a résumé to obtain employment at Dan Halen Sheet-rock Inc. The hat said "Can skin a buck, run a trout–line, and all my rowdy friends are coming over tonight," according to Dan Halen, the character in charge of the interview. These are references to the Hank Williams Jr. songs "Country Boy Can Survive," and "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight."
    • "Swayze Crazy"
    • "John Beer" (A play on John Deere, with the logo shown as a silhouette of a drunken anthropomorphic deer sprawled out among beer cans).
    • "Do It To It" (catchphrase of Plumber Bubba in the Bubba Trubba episode)
