GPS Bangkok Taxi Tracking with T-Square App

Has anybody seen or tried this yet?

I was just in a taxi and I noticed a laminated card hanging from the back of the front seat advertising a free taxi tracking called T-Square for Android and iOS. I couldn't see any other stickers or identification in the taxi to say it was part of the scheme.

So I downloaded the app and took a quick snap of the licence plate to give it a go later.




In the app you get a traffic marked map which could be handy depending on how accurate it is.



So I tried entering the taxi plates but it says the taxi meter has to be active and the app wouldn't let me click the "ok" button so either the taxi had not picked up another fair yet or he wasn't part of the scheme.



I'll have a few more looks for him today to see if I can get it working. It says there are 10,000 taxi's fitted already. Possibly B.S, but this app could be handy if you have kids that need to get a taxi somewhere alone or if the wife needs to get a late night taxi on her own.

That was my first thought when I saw the ad, "might be able to find a phone" but as it only works with the meter on it wouldn't work for that purpose.

Would be more useful if it showed you were a taxi you have called for currently is.

Ok, I've got the hang of it now. You have to click the "Acknowledge" check box so you can press ok.





So my taxi isn't in the project. What was the point in his advert then?

I tried just entering the number before I tried the above^ and it gave me a choice of taxi's.





But they were unoccupied.





But as it gives a different answer to above then it looks like there are some taxis in the scheme.

This is a good idea. They should have all the taxis loaded with IDs that people getting into them can record. It could have been done a long time ago. You occasionally hear about rapes and ripoffs from taxi drivers so this system can help. Just a week or so ago there was a taxi driver who shot a passenger who threw up in his car.
