Yes I remember them. It was close to what I was thinking but I'd call my album "Buddha Chill" or something similar.

I personally like to mix it up with some Mexican and Swizz tunes when friends come around for dinner.

I have all sorts of so-called 'World Music' in my collection from loads of places.

Long term favourites include Salif Keita (Mali), Youssou N'Dour Senegal) , Alan Stivell (Brittany).

If you are up for a bit of punk mountain yodeler music try Hubert von Goisern und die Alpinkatzen (Austria) - good fun

I am always looking for new (to me) items.
I am currently listening to amongst other musical styles (Rock, Jazz, Pop & Folk)
Tabu Ley Rochereau (DR Congo) and an album entitled The Great Australian Legend: A Panorama of Bush Balladry and Song, released in 1971 by A.L. Lloyd an English folk singer and collector of folk songs

She's a great singer, Cameltoe ! I just love Brazilian womens' voices.
Most of us have heard of Astrid Gilberto, who sang "Corcovado" and "The Girl From Ipanema" so many years ago. But did you know that her daughter is also a singer ?

    And here's a very laid-back, late night track :

Really like Ros Sereysothea, a Cambodian singer from the 60's who was unfortunately killed during the KR period:

I got into old 60's Cambodian music through Dengue Fevers first album which revived some of the old songs:

Also like a lot of stuff which comes from the Scandinavian countries, mostly sung in English but still qualifies as foreign:

Fever Ray - Keep the Streets Empty For Me

Lykke Li - I follow rivers

    Bjork - Joga

The classical composer Khachaturian based his style on Armenian, Georgian and Azerbaijan folk music.

The Lullaby from Gayane is a really beautiful piece. Even if you're not normally a classical music listener, try this :

I posted one of her songs on the "what you listening to now" thread a while back, she's pretty good.

I only heard of her a couple of weeks back when I started watching "Vikings". The theme song was done by her. I googled it, found out who she was, and now have a couple of albums. This was the track that got me interested.
