Anyway, they went and bought another vhicken and a kilo of beef, the chicken forme to do my thing. A bit late in the day, so i just throw it in a pot with some veges and spices. The feet and guts I pasts on to the other cooks.
The paste for one chick, salt, cumin and khra tai:
The other one is chopped up,
and gets different spices, adding garlic, kapi and chillie:
very interesting pics stroller. think i prefer just to go down to the supermarket though. i expect my son would enjoy a chicken hunt like that
couldn't you get any rats?
Rats were last weeks menu I was thinking of visiting stroller but of course the main worry is what to do about food, I mean I have nothing against killing animals, well in my younger days, used to quite enjoy the hunt and all that, just the thought of actually eating them afterwards puts me off a bit, cant beat supermarkets can you
I remember when my mate joined the navy, they had to do a survival course in English woodland, now in the Autumn there really aint a lot to eat there, so 7 days into this course they are all obviously starving hungry, twigs and flowers dont make a good stew, so the nice instructor gathered them all round in a circle and held out a big cardboard box and explained he had brought them some proper food, he then put the box down and let out a dozen cute white bunny rabbits, grown men with tears in their eyes as they club the cute little bunnies to death
^ I'd have just called Pizza hut for a delivery
Well, it's a 'boyscouts' sort of thmg, wasn't into it as akid, with them kiddie foddling cheersleaders around, but I enjoy it now.
Well, now the interesting part of the evening:
THe "Gai Pip" is just about ready, hammer a wooden stick into the ground and tie the bird to it:
Put a flame-proof bucket over it and seal with mud:
ready
Cover the art-work with straw and set light to it:
Can't recall what this picwas abooat, but looks nice anyway:
Enough for now, you might wonder why I'm online right now - well, it isn't a holiday 'round here, they've all fekked off home, my cousine in law said he was gonna get his bong out and be back in a minute, watching my heavy-meatl vids.
He fellasleep in his house, apparently; shouldn;t feed the buggers too miuch Lao Kao, really.
Then my missus unplugged the DVD player and is watching her Thai, soaps.now.
Happy X-mas!
It really is like living with cavemen (PJ torch is cheating tho).
Coolio.

Thank you boon me and have a better new year than your xmas
That's true, but there should be an increasing number of absolutely sober posts in the new year. And I don't think I've messed up with this thread, a few typos are not the end of the world.Originally Posted by Boon Mee

Oh, the fire:
Got to keep this going with straw for about 1/2 hour, a welcome source of heat and fun for the kids.
The finished product:
And dinner is ready:
Gai op fang (chicken baked in straw) is quite nice, they do that sometimes around here, although I find the "gai ban" a bit chewy
So I guess that means you two are going to be the two most boring posters on TD for 2007...Originally Posted by ChiangMai noon

We had chicken too - but I cooked it, not my wife. Or Thai guests were not impressed
