Been to La Maison by Chef Billy quite a few times- always decent food at a good price. Confit Duck and a glass of Merlot for 628 baht. I usually cook at home, street food is a false ( and unhealthy) economy imo. If anyone fancies a trip there, just hop off at MRT Si Lasalle.

They used to do a massive burger there.

Si LaSalle is on the BTS line not the MRT

^The burger menu was extensive, but I can also walk to Arno's and I guess there is also the added advantage of pints or large Leos there.

Nice! I've been wanting to purchase a wok. I use a big frying pan for stirfries. How do you like it?

That looks interesting and quite good. I always loved the Tom Kha Gai best as it is less spicy.

^I really got the balance right on this Tom Yam batch. I might freeze some for future reference

Signorina Singapore pulled out all the stops tonight with her famous Beef Rendang, served in an appropriately Islamic looking dish

Top marks for presentation to Manda and Joe

While LLKhGF was visiting she remarked that my Tom Yam tasted slightly different to what she remembered 19 years ago and she asked me if I was still putting both pastes in the soup.

I said I was only putting Tom Yam paste in the soup and did not remember a 2nd paste. Then a lightning bolt of memory pierced my brain and I recalled the paste she was talking about.

I used to put Beef Paste in the soup. I can't remember why it dropped off the ingredient list.

So I went and got a jar and tonight had my first memory-jolting bowl of my original Tom Yam. I used to add it for the sweet layers of clove, cinnamon and star anise...

I'm kinda sorry that I made up that 'Lamping' slang now.

You're aware lots of that stuff is store bought, right?

Roast Potatoes for sure, porchetta and gravy most likely, too.

But, you seem to consider such things to be 'home made' anyway.

That roadkill on the plate, well, maybe that was his own creation.
