Finally, after 9 weeks I get my fish an' chips.

On arriving home my good lady wife cooked up a welcome home meal.

Not some fancy haddock, but good old pla nin out of the pond!

In fact, everything apart from the chips and peas came from the garden. Oh, and the tomatoes...

And a close up on the succulent fish! Not the taste of cod, but it looks pretty damn close!

That does look good, she looks to have sussed the batter out. Too many bloody peas though and a battered sausage would have gone better than the tomato

I would kill for a battered sausage - I am so looking forward to Christmas in the UK.

A hot pie on every corner, battered sausages on call and unlimited pork pies in the fridge.

And of course a flagon of scrumpy sitting in the porch! Me mum's house is abut 3 miles from Thatchers cider farm!

I drifted away there... yes, too many peas!

Anyway, not really dinner, but I came up to Korat on the coach today and just outside of Bangkok the coach stopped at a McDonalds. The stewardess ran off and came back 2 minutes later with a burger for everyone, free!

It was pretty awful, but free!

    So I ate it!

How much is a burger in Macdonalds in Thailand?

They are 89p or 35 baht in the uk. I wouldn't be surprised if they cost more in Thailand.

    I'm not a fan.

Due to a rotten split shift at work I haven't had a dinner in several months. Fortunately, I'm not much for evening meals anyway. Brekkie rules my roost with lunch a close second. Nevertheless, I'm lovin' this thread.

I don't know how much a burger is but it's 190 Baht for a 'VIP' bus, Bangkok to Korat, that's a 4 hour journey. With a free bottle of water and now a free burger! Competition must be tight

And that's an average sized hand, btw.

They must be smaller burgers in Thailand
Beats a pack of cheesy biscuits that I had on my last VIP bus ride.

Tonight's chicken and vegetable soup with Tiger bread and some suitable reading material for a change..

    Bogon Tip #964

Never order a t-bone steak that is thinner than a blue Rizla paper.

Also, from the top left pic, you can see there is no sear, and why on earth do you have a shot of chocolate sauce on the side???

Dilly, you've been here too long., never be fooled by those 69 baht steak places!
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

One day back and the missus considers her obligations finished with a fish an' chips last night. She 'popped out' at 11am and got waylaid...

Anyway, the reason I'm here is the little one, so left to fend for ourselves it was salmon fish cakes tonight. Brown bread for me, white for the sprog!

(run out of salmon and used tuna... and got away with it!)

And I've never been so proud in me life - me daughter made a triple decker fishcake sarnie with beans all on her own, no prompting! Some Scottish blood maybe?

    Yes please.

On the subject of Italy, I've got Norn Iron on here against the Dutch; I think Stephen Davies was channeling his inner Baggio with that penalty. Dreadful.

That looks suspiciously like English chippy curry sauce to me. Am I right?

If so, swap the shit fruity curry sauce for the proper Chinese chippy stuff and you're on the way to comfort food heaven (although I'd replace the sausage with a cheese and onion growler) with two slices of buttered Warbies to make a couple of butties with.
