Today we are attempting to make Italian Croissants . LOL
Yesterday we made the dough, and butter slab, rolled them together and let them sit in the refrigerator overnight.
So later today we we will try out luck at it.
Will post my triumph or abysmal failure later
    Good luck!

    We will need it ,
so far it has been more of an Aristophanian comedy, (a comedy of errors) rather than a Shakespearian play, though the results might be more of a tragedy . LOL

Don't be too critical, for those who have tried , you know how difficult it is to make croissants.
This was a first attempt and we were not very concerned about uniformity and form.
We really should have folded the dough and butter one more time to get mor layers, but rolling by hand was difficult.

I chose some of the better ones LOL

They did not taste too bad, much better than store bought.

Well after a long grueling day, I got back home late and got after a nice dinner to celebrate

Tater, sautéed mushrooms and a nice Angus Ribeye on the grill

    Ribeye after a quick sear.

Money shot at the pool bar area.

^Nice one Stumpy. We had one of those cans of Stella Artois the other day. Not too bad for 96baht at 7-11 and a good break from our normal Thai or Japanese beers. I have been meaning to try the Singha Reserve.

^^ Croissants came out well, good effort

Damn that steak looks so delicious. It just looks so tender, you can see the marbling. I would throw a knob of butter on that spud. Nice mushrooms as well.

We shall not speak about my meal tonight.

Oh yeah. I always toss a huge lob of butter on the spud. It melts before the pic..

    Cheers

    Everything's still from Iceland.

    The gravy is still watery.

why leave the potato still in foil on the plate getting covered in gravy? in fact why cook anything in foil, i don't get it. Just asking to increase your Alzheimer's risk, stopped using foil in the early 80s horrible stuff.

About 3 hours for me though 5 would be way better, but the aroma of slow braising lamb really fucks with my patience

Anyways. Inspired by Mendip's recent sausage casserole dinner I thought back to being a kid and curried sausages with mash potatoe came to mind, cannot even remember the last time I had this and had never cooked it before. Used a Madras grade curry powder and plenty of it, unlike whatever Mum use to use which had a much milder and sweeter taste that was kid friendly. The recipe I followed roughly: Curried Sausages | RecipeTin Eats

^^ What's not to like about that!

I reckon chopped bacon would make it even better HW!

I hope you get some kinder comments than I had for my sausage casserole.

    That's complete BS.

Myth 4: Drinking out of aluminum cans or cooking in aluminum pots and pans can lead to Alzheimer’s disease.

Reality: During the 1960s and 1970s, aluminum emerged as a possible suspect in Alzheimer’s. This suspicion led to concern about exposure to aluminum through everyday sources such as pots and pans, beverage cans, antacids and antiperspirants. Since then, studies have failed to confirm any role for aluminum in causing Alzheimer’s. Experts today focus on other areas of research, and few believe that everyday sources of aluminum pose any threat.

Thanks Snubs. You beat me to it. Total BS. Some nonsense that surfaced, probably from the cast iron cooking industry. Like Eggs kill you, butter is bad, beef causes colon cancer.

Sorry Toots. You drank the Kool Aid on that one.

But why leave the Spud in foil? Most do it to keep the butter and other add ons in the potato and stop it from spilling out on the plate. Additionally it helps the tater from splitting in half like mine did in the other pic above. I pull mine out because I cut it up usually when eating versus spooning it out like some do.

My dad taught me the technique to pierce it with a fork in both directions then push the sides to open it up, never splits and the butter or "fillings" you like stay right in there, none even dripping on the plate. I thought everybody used the fork.

There is no conclusive evidence, does not means its not involved. Plaques in Alzheimer's show significant amounts present - i'll stick with my cool aid, you keep using that stuff and ali pans etc, all good.

Jesus here we go, post up the science that says there is conclusively no link. I'll leave it there whilst you waddle around on your high horse.
