Sorry, I missed that Snubby...
Since we returned from Oz 15 years ago my wife has reverted to full Isaan. She now much prefers this Isaan fare to Western food and we tend to eat separately in the evenings... and in actual fact I don't think that is so unusual for for many mixed race partners.
I'll be honest, and hopefully without insulting Isaan food, I would rather eat what the dogs get than eat some of the stuff my wife munches on.
But to be fair, for my wife's food to be edible to me it would have to be so bland for her... neither of us would enjoy it. A lot of what she enjoys would just blow my head off.
I tend to cook for my daughter as she is much more 'Western' in her ways that 'Thai'. It's just the way things have worked out.
And as for when I go away... yeah, a lot more rice for my daughter and less veg I would say... but she still gets her fruit and I'm 'as happy' as I can be with that.
Overall, I would say the Western diet I give my daughter is a lot more healthy than the Thai diet she gets when I'm away, but that's a whole different topic altogether.
