    Sunday Dinner

Ok here is a bit of compromise on my part ,,,,,, usually on the holy day I aspire to bring to the table a traditional English roast of one kind or another ie Pork / Beef/ Chicken + all the trimmings,,, however despite the table this week being laden with enuf toenail curdling chilli night after night I have conceeded to the inevitable ,, a bit of a spicy compromise ,, not a Thai curry but my version of a Chinky one.

Sorry can,t take you through the guts of it all as I was busy watching the rugby , but this is the end result before devouring took place.

Notice my egg fried rice ,,,,,,,, I cooked that lastnight put in the fridge then egged it and fried it tonight ,,, also I have fresh morning glory + chilli and secret sauce mmm no expense spared here !

A bit of this that and the other on me plate allready to gorge

Game over ! despite protestations about " mai ped " there was little left over for the next doors cat

My recipe includes 2 chicken breasts fresh from the local butchers in Frinton

2 cups of bargain buy rice from some Paki,s shop in N4 London

2 handfull,s of Adsa essentials frozen bullet hard peas

2 desertspoon,s of Chinese instant curry in a hurry paste ( car boot )

2 large onion,s rescued from the A133 Elmstead Market bypass ( fell off a tractor + trailor )
    2 cup,s of boiling water

2 handfulls of fresh morning glory ( courtesy Thai Airways )

    2 red chillis .

Enjoy it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, us 2 did
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Not sure if you've been to one but in Wing Yip? they have a massive selection of those all different brands but all the same thing at the end of the day!

I think we've had about 3 roast dinners in the last 3 years (2 were roast duck). It doesn't appeal like it used to.

Nice for you to take up the cooking there on Sunday N....jan. I really like the morning glory. and like you, I enjoy my once in a while Farlong foods made by me my way. There is nothing like mom's cooking was though.

Thanks for posting the thread and pics.

Well thanks for the comments I actually do all the weekend cooking ST , gives Jan a well deserved break , last Monday here in the UK we had a bank hol and Jan was working so I gave her a nice suprise , I had a go at making some Thai food for her ( wish I had photo,d it to show you )

I made a som tum with grated raw sweede , tomatoes, and green beans from my garden,, some fish sauce , palm sugar , fresh lime juice , fresh birds eye chilli.
Then I marinaded some thinly cut beef in soy sauce + lime juice + little chilli ( dried )
cooked the beef and tossed it into a fresh salad from my garden with a light dressing of chilli paste ( dont ask which one we have a fride full of em lol )fresh lime juice + a little palm sugar.
I then made a rather strange looking laab gai as I had,nt chopped the chicken tiny enuf, but it was delicious.
Then a rather nice wok full of egg + fresh prawn fried rice.

A first for me on this meal was also the ol sticky rice ( which I am plsd to say I pulled off ) I soaked it for 3 hours then steamed it for 10 mins turned it over for another 5 mins and presto ! balled up nice and cleanly in the fingers to collect the laab of the plate.

Jan loved the suprise ( the meal aswell ) she could,nt wait to ring home in the morn to tell her family ,, there was a fair bit of laughter as she blattered away ,, when I enquired after she said aaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwww honey I never do stik rie like that ,,,,,,,,I do in the microwave
