Careful! Careful! Whilst I appreciate the allusion, madness is not limited to Hatters, as a cursory perusal of this site will confirm.Quote:

Couple of fried eggs.
Nice couple of rashers of streaky smoked bacon.
A few freshly hand picked, grilled mushrooms.
Grilled tomato and sausage.
Slice of fried bread.
Two pieces of black pudding.
I ended up with a Pork Chop and Mashed potatoesQuote:

I had some nice Swedish Meatballs yesterday with onion gravy and " Lintberry " the owner called it
Tasted like cranberry, went really well together
I just tried to google the berry and came accross a disturbing interpretation
I don't think I'll be going back there again :)
Oh Oh are you running a weight watchers franchise on the side :)
My work isn't physical and the kids have flown the nest/back at Uni, so meals now are not driven by the feeling of feeding the 5,000.
Food is generally tasty but not large portions or particular times. Rice as a more regular staple I have learnt to love. Potatoes and pasta are reduced, bread only if freshly baked.
I felt I would get some abuse from the fruit/cereal/gym crowd but none so far.
Youve got my vote mate ,,,,,,,, I,m all for changing my western diet ,, when we have what I call a western dinner now ( which is only about 2 times per week ) I probably only eat 2 small potatoes in the meal,, but far more root + green veg. I am more than happy to have my bran flake breakfast 7 days a week but at the weekend its the Thai in our home that wants to eat a western fry up !
When we are in Thailand in a hotel/ resort overnight I am quite happy to eat a bowl of congee + spice on top , which is hot out the pot ,,,,,,,,as opposed to the cold fried eggs and those disgusting looking sausages and shrivelled up bacon rind that so many foreigners seemed determined to get down their necks :)
I've never really taken breakfast seriously, but, today I had Pomelo and a few slices of Mango. Wow. Felt great, going to start the dat with fruit from now on. Very enjoyable and perked me right up.
As long as it's ripe. Not nice to start the day with a bitter taste in your mouth.Quote:

Why are all the cereals in 7/11 aimed at kids ?
Lucky Stars, frosties and them Choco things
The corn flakes and frosties will break your teeth too, what do they add to them.
While I'm at it, the chupa chups, you chew them here, instead of sucking ???
Friday, 9 September 2011: I decided to mix it up just a little bit this morning. I was thinking pancakes but decided on waffles. Not much more effort just to get the waffle maker out and coat it with some oil so the batter would not stick.
I like my waffles crisp so kept them in the waffle maker a little longer than recommended. In the buttermilk batter I mixed some cinnamon and nutmet in with it to spice it up a little bit. I put some maple syrup on them because I had no powdered sugar and they were tasty. Washed them down with some Lipton “spiced tea”. I like my carbs so these waffles hit the spot this morning.

can you get waffle makers in tesco / big c?
To the best of my knowledge, yes. I got mine a few years ago at the then Carefore on Central Road in Pattaya. That store is now a Big C "Extra" but would imagine that same or similar electronic products are stocked.
On my waffle maker, the waffle plates are fixed so they can not be taken out and cleaned, nor can the waffle maker be used as a skillet so it's uses are limited to making waffles. But they do make the waffles fairly nice. Can't remember the cost. 1,800 baht ball park...
cool.
it's gone onto the purchase list.
thanks.
You need to turn those waffles into a Toffee Waffle Sundae, ST
My kids love them with ice cream and maple syrup, so do I actually
Also that fry up, you need toast to dip into the eggs
Reminds me of this as a kid

Mmmmm Eggs and Soldiers
The eggs were not mine and my comment was same as yours, "toast needed.....
SabaiSabai, I do not disagree with you about the waffles but this was for breakfast and ice cream is not something I usually eat for breakfast. Now that it is lunch time though, how about some waffles with strawberries, ice cream and chocolate?

Now that's a proper breakfast Nigel. Only once a week though - the rest of the week I make do with coffee and a couple of poached eggs.
I find it's quite amazing that fresh Mangoes are actually on the shelves of UK supermarkets. How many years have you noticed them been there?Quote:

The reason I mentioned fresh Oh Oh was as opposed to the sliced tinned mango we eat at night with ice cream :)
What I like about Thailand is that there's no fixed food for any meal seemingly. Today had Pad Krapow Pla Kapong (delicious believe it or not) and for the last few days have been mixing it up between avocado on toast and home made chicken liver pate on toast. Makro had local avo's at about 50 baht for four. Trouble is that they all ripen at once so when theyre ready.....
Still do like a good fry up one every couple of weeks - must be streaky bacon though.
27 October 2011: a simple breakfast of hot chocolate, pomelo, and Danish walnut dark bread by the pool. nice breeze this morning and a good way to start the day.
