Thread: Curly Fries in Thailand

I am looking for a curly fry machine. Basically a potato cutter. Yes, I have googled sites in Thailand, emailed companies and called but as to be expected no one has come through.

Come on chefs, any ideas?

You will need a US credit card to place an order, plus the price of shipping and tax (if any) may be excessive. You might want to get a friend in the US to order/buy it for you, and then figure out a cheap way to get it to you (like hand-carry by someone heading your way). Amazon has models ranging from cheaper than this, up to several hundred dollars for an industrial model. Don't know if this will help or not.

30 bucks plus shipping for a good one. Think I will stick with my super crispy Belgium fries. Damn things are frozen, but boy oh boy do they cook up good. Saying that one of my first stops home will be Popeyes for their Cajun curly fries.

Ebay has 5 sellers. Including postage to Thailand, about $58, as far as I can see. Postage is far more than the item. Item is about $24.

Hilly will recoup the costs quickly being the only resort to offer the unique culinary experience

Anything from the States will be set for 110v, though- will it work OK on a voltage converter? Not everything will...

I always get stuff delivered to American friends and then they send it with USPS Priority mail for a fraction of the cost.

I made the mistake of ordering some stuff from the UK, Thai customs added around 200% of its value which I refused to pay, DHL (UPS?) returned it to the UK (free) and the supplier sent it by snailmail to a friend for hand delivery here.

I wouldn't risk anything through customs again, but as Mid says if it's needed and gives Hilly that culinary edge then the extra $$ makes little difference.

There's a chicken place in the food court at mbk called Mr Poulet. Thats the only place in town I've found that sells them. And the girl behind the counter, as cute as she is, has no idea where her boss gets them from or if they are made by him.

This is what I am looking for. Did get a response from one Thai company that makes an electric one for only B40,000. I said no...

Also sold as standard in all branches of A&W and mighty tasty they are too. In fact the A&W Mozzaburger is probably the best burger you can get from a fast food outlet . Very tasty and doesn't keep repeating on you hours later. Their root beer is also a favourite with Ms Bangyai.
