Really would like him to come back.

I would say his enthusiasm and lack of forum experience led to the problems we saw.

Hell, the guy by all accounts does a fine steak at a good price. I started a thread here lamenting the lack of good steak in Thailand at a decent price- I'm glad he came on and got his word out. Hopefully he'll be back, and as for momma timber, I kinda doubt she's a troll, because she would've been outed by timba within hours.

I like the food forum. I like the fact that everyone has a say & people as diverse as Chi, Scampy, KW, Jettie, Norton, Props, BG & FF (along with many others) can post ideas & recommendations, recipes & comments. Recently, I've felt it has been taken over by Timber (& his family to a lesser extent). I'm not saying that his ideas are unwelcome, but he's one person. It has put me off, quite honestly. If a forum was devoted entirely to him & his threads I certainly wouldn't read it that often. I like the diversity.
I already boycott DD's video food forum, cos the vids take too long for me to download. I really don't want to lose another food forum.

As a guy who started here with a one topic focus, please feel free to share other aspects of whats going on in your life. I've got to agree with FF, and wish I had gotten the same sort of scathing rebuke earlier in my TD membership. While I do still stray into my "Fook Whitey" zone, I try and share more of whats going on than my pet obsession.

As I've said in the past, I think TeakDoor is like a bar. Do you really want to hear one person continually talking on one subject? I'm American, lets talk real football, not that pussy soccer shit, or growing our own herbs for our kitchen.

Just some advice....make of it what you will. Don't take none of this too personal and just be you. And I think there is more to you than your restuarant.

There are lots of popular members who are different and stand out - one of the things I enjoy about this place.

Timber is one of the people who stand out, his enthusiasm is inspiring and I hope he'll be back.

You complain about lack of diversity over there and your reasoning for this is that one member is adding too many good food recipes. Seems very odd to me.

Surely other posters not adding enough of their own recipes is the real problem?

I haven't seen many threads from you over there and never started one myself in that section. I don't think I am in a position to complain about the lack of diversity there and neither are you.

If you want more diversity there then put some extra effort in yourself, or at least encourage other members to do so. Seems to me a smarter move than discouraging one member to post less recipes on there don't you think?

I completely agree with this. And I think you will find that most other posters do too. Everyone here can see he's enthusiastic and that the whole clan is a bit inexperienced in forum etiquette in general, the raucous nature of TD in particular.

Fozzie Bear got shit thrown at him for far less, hasn't come back since. Katana got shit thrown at him for one-tenth the self promotion, posts in other threads and starts threads without ever mentioning his business now. I had an acquaintance come on here, his first post was about promoting his business. He got nailed, the thread trashed. I told him personally if he doesn't have time to contribute anything other than spam to stay the fuck off. There have been others run off this forum for less.

If, in their enthusiasm, they went OTT so be it. They come back join the forum I think they'll find a welcome like any other valued member.

Those people got one hell of a welcome. So now they won't post? They should get back on here and start posting like nothing ever happened, but give the restaurant & self promotion a rest. Ever bit of shit they got thrown at them they asked for.

Not so much the business; the forum is nothing without it's posters. So the posters have every right to tell someone when they think that some one has gone a bit OTT.

My advice to the whole damn clan is get back on this board read some of the other food threads, read some of the banter, the travel threads get to know some of the regular posters styles add a comment to a thread they might have an interest in, other than "all about timber." Surely, post a recipe or two. This can only serve to build your business.

Lying low is the last thing the dude should do. Recipes come and go - but no fanfare no throwing petals before his own feet. Just jump in and POST. Where did I say that, Maddy? I said the whole food forum seems to be about one person. Not that he's posted too many good recipes. Check it out. Not that many recipes compared to threads about himself & his restaurant, are there?

Look, I know you, Blake, Scampy et al have met him & think he's a great bloke. I'm not disputing that. He probably is. There are a lot of great blokes on this forum. Some of them even have good businesses. I can't think of one other who has or is asking for an entire subforum to themselves, though.
