It is quite commonplace to use butter on steaks, including quality steaks. A well known steakhouse chain that does this is Ruth's Chris- and they do a fine steak.

Yes they do. I used to sling jerk chicken on the street outside a reggae club across the street from ruths chris in Portland. I'd go in there all nasty from cooking off 50lb of chicken and enjoy a nice steak.

Timber's restaurant is in Thailand, wtf do we care about the price in USA ?
I am curious as to the cost comparison of buying a quality piece of meat like that here compared to USA.

    Seems more expensive in Thailand.

Nothing to do with what Timber sells his steaks for as I have already commented that his prices are more than reasonable.

I used to buy from a local grocery in Springfield MO called Harter House. They are a growing store and part of their mainstay is their exceptional butchery department. I would buy my meat in the same fashion I do here. The going rate for non-dry aged was about the same as I pay in Thailand. The steak you guys are coming in for ran me $10/lb. I'm selling it for $15. This is about what I'd pay back there. Thanks to the scale of economy in Thailand I like to think its cheaper. This helps me sleep at night.

Indeed, great prices for a very personalised service, and i think it is that service that is going to make his business a success, i doubt you will find any where else in Bangkok right now with the same standard.

I have seen on your menu that you also have some tasty sounding non-beef food.

Bangkok is an international market. Lots of different people and their food rules. You gotta cover your bases.

Hey Timber, Did you ever see anyone strap on that 72 oz steak out at the Country Kitchen on stark st..
I did, I saw a friend of mine eat it and satisfied them and he didn't pay.

I don't like Halal slaughtered meat. I prefer mine non-Halal.

Halal is nothing more than medieval butchery and is unspeakably cruel for the animal.

^ Though in Isaan they will slaughter it that way too which is, letting the cow bleed out (and I am talking about cattle here).

To paraphrase Dorothy Parker (I replace just one name, twice)

" The affair between English Noodles and English Noodles will live as one of the prettiest love stories in all literature."
