    Bread making

i bought a FAGOR breadmaking machine at the weekend while in Udon Thani and got the flour packets ,yeast etc in a bakery supply place there too.

Now im home and the misses is away to her mums for a few days i thought i would try it out ,the instructions for the bread making that came with the machine are in thai for the quantities and the recipies for the bread from the place where i got the flour are for industrail sized mixes,

Any body got a simple mix recipie for brown loaf ?

Bread baking machine is not adventurous. Making one in the oven may be, slightly.

Yes but don't simply defrost, they come out as new when you really heat them up.

Does a bread making machine bake the bread also? or Must you bake it in an oven?

I don't know anything about bread making machines but I would like to learn. Which is the best to buy here in Thailand?

Go to Tesco and buy some.

Yeast I mean. And to be sure there is nothing wrong with the machine buy a pack of premixed bread mix if available. That should definitely work.

I cannot think of any reason besides the yeast may be spoiled by heat and humidity.

If the relation between flour and water is correct and the yeast is not dead it should definitely rise.

Yep, I'm the guru when it comes to making bread in a machine.

    You've foked up mate.

If the bread ain't rising you have either used not enough yeast or you've used too much water or not enough water or you have added hot water to the mix instead of luke warm water.

Another reason could be the yeast is old or the wrong yeast used.

Considering you have used a packet mix your problem is yeast related or water related.

Get it sorted and try again, if all the elements are not spot on you will never make a good loaf of bread.

Once you sort it you wont go back to the shop again and buy bread.

    Good luck with it.

    Here is the correct mix.

    500 grams of bread mix.

    7 grams of yeast.

310 Ml of luke warm water.

This mix gives you a standard sized loaf.

Don't deviate from this mix, if you do you can throw the whole lot down the shitter.

You sound as useless as me in the kitchen, I've just sussed out how to use a washing machine after all these years

But I do know bread comes from dough,

Get down to Au bon Pain give them dough and they will give you the bread. Simples

cold water is best..1.2% for yer yeast, 56% water for white, 58% for meal/grain, depending on what flour yer useing, and as for your taste, its up to you..i always enjoyed pumpkin seeds in my home brew bread maker
