later today
Tease
It was. :)
T-bone is what I have planned.
She will be having store bought Swordfish
"You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl."
She has been pestering me to either get her a BBQ grill or make one for her, for years. She misses her grilled fish.
I have hesitated because the home sits inside a hammock. wind + embers = fire.
But we have a new structure close to the house that should protect against drifting embers. So,......I built her a grill.
I had some brick left over from the two pallet loads that were delivered to me years ago when I was building pillars* to hold entrance gates. One of the guys fabricated a pan and welded three grates together for me. It is a nice size grill. The grate rests at about 35 inches above the floor. One of the guys found out that the grill was ready and brought me a couple T-Bone steaks. He was given a side of beef (Black Angus) for occasionally helping a local rancher this past year and was sharing. I don't eat red meat for the most part but I couldn't turn the offer down.
mine - T-Bone
hers - Swordfish (2 meals)
*pillars are 3.5 feet by 3.5 feet and 9.5 feet high, filled with concrete. 3.5 feet is sitting below grade on a 4.5 foot by 4.5 foot spread footer. Hurricane resistant
Looks damn nice. T-bone is always a good option and there's nothing like a proper charred piece of steak.
Last BBQ this trip.
I finished the last T-bone. Salad not pictured.
She finished her swordfish. Sides include a salad, couscous and quinoa.
Who ate the chicken legs?
:chitown:
:)
Looks damn good.
I had a wee bbq on Saturday evening at a friends place.
pulled beef, chicken wings, prawns on skewers, lamb chops, sausages and sides.

How was the pulled beef, Willy? Was it tough?
The wife makes the best seafood nam chin I have had. It cooled off a bit last night so had a couple of neighbors over for some seafood and decided to do some pork chops as well. Simple and delicious.

^ nice AO
One of the wife's friends is visiting so we decided to cook a BBQ this afternoon. Then we decided to invite 1 or 2 more and suddenly we are Qing for ten.
Some quick shopping for the essentials.

I also bought some chicken satays on sticks (not pictured). One of the things I love about shopping at B.I.G. is that they have a decent selection of pork, including pre-cooked pork belly that I can buy a quick snack for on the way home.

Look forward to Grilling pics DW. I see a few Tomahawk cuts in the cart...... :)
Thanks. Well spotted, it ain’t a competition. Bu t let’s face it, those that can afford to eat well do so. Start the morning prepping. Kids prepared foil packets of zucchini & carrots done the JPPR way plus russet potatoes.

Then the light the coals. And pour a Bloody Mary. Vodka and the basics. Not too much Tabasco and Wooster.
Then we get to the good stuff. Not sure why the order is messed up, the good old Teakdoor image uploaded - oh well. You get the idea. We had some chicken and stuff but no one wants to see chicken being bbq’d. This feed ten. With leftovers.
BURP

A mate from Japan was visiting. So time to fire up the Barbie’s again.
Start with getting the veggies going. Corn and taters. And some jalapeño poppers for snacks.

They didn’t last long enough for the photo.

Then some sausages and chickens for the kids. As you can see BBQ real estate was a slight issue.

Meanwhile the trusty old coal fired Orion was doing a number on a couple of briskets and a few sides of pork ribs. The ribs were just falling off the bone and even the hooks

Then it was time to put these beef on the grill. Aimed for medium rare with a charred crust.

Looks fantastic! Steaks a little more done than I prefer, though.
