My mum has become pretty frugal these days and she freezes unused beans in little margarine tubs.
I use half a tin with a full English and empty the rest into a small pot with cling film. They last 3-4 days in the fridge that way, probably longer if it's an air tight container. I never leave them in the tin and put in the fridge, go off quicker and my mum used to shout at me for doing it.

A full tin with 6 pieces of toast used to be a mainstay for me after a day in the fields when I was younger. Nowadays, I'll have a full tin if I've walked more than 15 miles and sugar levels are low.

We can give that a go as long as you don't make them like Chitty or Mendy or I will bin it, just as you wouldn't expect me to cook you a steak like Chitty.

I think the solution here is to put the cheese under the beans, and on top.

But then you should probably grill it.

Same here. Maybe these days the tins are more technical with some kind of film inside to protect the food? I haven't tried it in years to find out if it is different now, certainly when I was young an opened tin in the fridge gave the food a 'tinny' flavour.

^ I've always left the beans in the tin in the fridge. Same goes for corned beef, mackerel, SPAM, tomatoes, soup, etc etc.

I've never noticed any 'tinny' flavour but maybe I should rethink this on health grounds?

Cyrille can always think of something to say. Even about baked beans. (See post above).

It rarely makes sense to anyone but Cyrille.

Perhaps your palate is immune to the tin contamination.

you shouldn't store an opened tin or can in the fridge once opened, as "the tin or iron can
dissolve into the food, giving it a metallic taste

Guests? My mates all took turns coming round to our house to eat.

We had good eating in our house, all home cooked by mum. I don’t shy away from veggies.

Proper Scottish cuisine kicks in sometimes at lunch but mostly when we leave the pub.

Could murder some crispy pancakes tho.

As is your penchant for non too subtle digs at other posters. ‘Fatso’ is the name you might have called someone you knew at primary school. The thing is, you don’t know me, and due to your snide remarks aimed at others, they can barely tolerate you.

Anyway, this is much more fun for me, and clearly annoying for you, than the stiff ignoring most people would give you.

Do carry on with your pointless irritability.

To be honest, I've never added tattie scones to a breakfast when I make it myself.

Mince and tatties is a good shout for next week tho!

When I was younger I had a baked beans puzzle and it all came in a can. it was easy to get the edge pieces of the plate, the rest was a nightmare.
