Thread: (Honest Jacks) Little Ayes Food Samples Review

I met up with forum legend LT at the villa I was staying in at Pratumnak Hill for an exchange of gifts, A load of Lils samples for me and a couple of Haggis and white puddings for LT.

Had a good laugh chatting at the poolside over coffee & a few beers.

Samples included

Steak & mushroom pie
Steak & kidney pie
Mince beef & onion pie
Chicken massaman mild curry pie
Sausage roll
Cornish pasty

Chicken massaman with |Indian roti
Lasagne
Cottage pie
Braised beef stew
Chicken vindaloo
Butter chicken

I liked the concept of freezer to ready to eat plate in 6 mins for the pies,
I was also wondering what the pastry would look and taste like after microwaving,
Well we were were very happy on both counts.

Very surprised how good they were after nuking, pastry held up well and was crisp on the top.
The contents were very tasty indeed, a very generous portion of meats the beef was particularly good.

Only criticism some had were massaman pie and lasagna were over salted but I like salt.
I was not to keen on the sausage roll as the contents tasted a bit like pork pie and wasn't greasy enough for me.

Overall it was a great tasting experience for us to try all these samples and looking at the menu all are set at a really low price. (pies 70-75 baht)

The meals were very good tasting as was the roti and rice that came with them. (120-130 baht)

I must apologize for the lack of pics and some products were secretly eaten by my niece who when asked what it tasted like just gave the

What is that with that typically horrible English pastry that everyone complains and tells me about ? The filling looks like something out of a dog can. But pretty typical for you tax dodger! And I see peas in that mess! F.F.S there's probably leftover from Sunday's lunch in it as well.

Thanks Tubby...............300 grams guaranteed by Little Aye and the others here are (Lady Pies 212 grams and more expensive, Tinnies full of potato flake and 250 grams and twice as expensive and you can forget about the rest.

The funny thing is I couldn't make a pie if my life depended on it. My wife is a great and fair cook giving value for money and as claimed by the OP.

Love or hate me I don't really give a fuck. But the orders still keep rolling in, in spite of my beloved internet persona!

As tax pointed out, your products seem to suffer from the dreaded 'curry puff' Thai style of baked goods, ie all 'flake' and very little filling.

OK if you're (ie you...are) going for the bottom end of the market, I guess.

Aye's pies are very fine, and I have tried plenty. Questions for the proverbial naysayers:-

1-How many you tried?
2-How many you made?
3-How many you sold?

As always I am interested to see what others are doing so I googled Taxdick's suggestion and to check out the size and weight of the pie they are selling at 60 Baht.

Tell us exactly what foil size means Tax? Seems this Yorkshire Mob don't let people know what they are buying.

I've seen many establishments and startups with raving reviews, and recommended some to friends after a couple of visits, then watched over time as quality drops while prices rise and they regress to either belly up or just more purveyors of mediocre foods.

Here's my tuppence on Aye's offerings, no pics needed as they're already up there. Home made will always beat factory produced, while she doesn't and hopefully won't compromise on quality and integrity, some of the secrets of success.

Tested on family and mates with the same result, all amazed by the amount and quality fillings compared with the shit being touted at Tinnies, London Pies and elsewhere. Even our previous favourite Lady Pies came an overall distant second, so for me it's proof of the pie in its eating over those of envious posters creating reality based on their perception of LT, which is a bit suspect if you ask me but anything goes on TD.

A 3-min nuke turns pie from frozen to plate ready, steaming and fluffy and waiting for your condiments of choice or none to make a great snack.

And don't dismiss the curries unless you're prepared to put your choices up against what are probably the tastiest and best value in and around Pattaya. Rather than list them all, easier to say I often pick one at random from the freezer knowing a great meal is a few minutes away.

I predict as marketing progresses these treats will become available at hundreds of bars and other venues, including supers, and as the numbers increase that will be the test for integrity.

Send me some free pies LT. You've had several really good reviews all you need now is one of the people you regularly insult to also give a good review and the credibility of the reviews is set in concrete. Just 2 pies will do, meaty ones.

You are 100% correct Jabir that the test of time is my wife's real challenge.

By the way, before Jackmeoff gave me the samples of the white pudding my wife and I didn't know they existed.

She tried it and within 2 days she was handing out samples and orders followed.

Being progressive and innovative is something she excels at which is important for the future.

My wife does not ship food products as her experience with anything but private courier firms is disastrous.
