Perhaps, but one can't replace an ancient primeval forest. All this over a job.

I'm not sure about the 'we' business. Surely it's for the governments of the world to protect their forests from company's who only see it as a money earner.

Does sending a message to joe public really have an impact? Should we stop buying furniture (look around your house, there's lots and lots of wood). Half my house structure is wood (yes, i know i'm riding with the devil).

What can we do collectively to improve matters for those that follow? Do we stop buying or should governments prevent the supply?

BTW, all these stars probably have shed loads of wood in their homes as does Prince Charles. Are they being hypocitical? Personally, I would like to hear their answer.

P.S. I just hope these people, having maybe seen a recent TD thread, aren't on a 'save a frog for a chimpanzee' campaign

I think the problem is the logging of old growth forests....There are many cultivated wood forests about the place and if there is not enough to supply the worlds needs then either plant more or we need to reprogram our thinking regarding our 'need for wooden items. It is the slow growing woods that are obviously costly and hard to replace therefore in demand that we need to protect
