Do the bar outings stop there or is it just private groups? Been with Lewinskys a couple of times up to St Andrews but they dont stop on the way back.

I live in Ban Chang and about half of the bars along that strip cater to very seedy behaviour. In the last year, the amount of bars has doubled. So there are some butt-ugly ladies (grandmothers) there, but you can also find some gems if you take your time.

Then again, when you're just getting a knobber (especially by 3 of them), who's gonna be picky, eh?

Dirty Dog, give me a holler if you're coming down. If it's not on Wednesday night, I'll shout some drinks. I'd like to get to meet some of the regulars on tv.com. And I'll bring my camera

Sorry DD, but I've had intentions of commenting about this monument for a long time, but when this thread surfaced recently, I couldn't hold back.

In the past, these creatures have been referred to by many names, to include dolphins, but are nowhere closely related. These figures are meant to represent the Seacow, or Dugong found along the coast of Asia. The irony of it all is that these more depict the Manatee of the West Indies (and Florida). The Dugong and Manatee are related, but are very different in their anatomy and habitat.

The Dugong, at the top, has a very definitive split in the tail, while the Manatee is very much more rounded. The Dugong are never found in fresh water, but spend all their time in salt water where they feed on sea grasses. These can be found around Thailand. Now the Manatee, lower images, is sighted in salt, fresh, and brackish waters where they feed on marine, estuarine, and fresh water vegetation. They are in the coastal waters of the Americas. How could the artist create images in Thailand, that are half a world away? I guess no one really cares but me.

Just a little interesting background - These animals are called Sirenians, why?
Manatees and dugongs are named after the Sirens of ancient Greek Mythology. In Homer's Odyssey, Sirens were half-woman, half-bird creatures that tried to lure Odysseus and his ship onto their island with sweet songs of love. Later, some authors confused Sirens with mermaids (mythical creatures described as half-woman, half-fish), which eventually led to naming of the scientific Order Sirenia. I remember reading stories about Sirens luring sailors into the rocks, when I was trying to learn German. I think the books were something about the adventures of Augenspiegel.

Just to update everybody, I went to the Jigsaw bar for the first time in 8 months about 3 weeks ago and it has completely changed.

There is a new Thai lady owner who has sacked all of the old staff and has replaced them with much younger staff, some of whom are very pretty.

The PVC sofa which used to be the site of the 200 baht head bobbing has been removed and there is no replacement activity in the bar area but short time rooms above.

I have been told that the old staff have been employed by the bar next door which has taken over the head bobbing service for those discerning clients!

There is a big vinyl couch in the back, behind the hanging sheet, during the day at least. They might take the sheet down at night. So I'm told...

Protection is, as always, an option...Not mandatory for a knobber.
