Koh-Chang.com - Ultimate guide to Koh Chang archipelago. This is a pretty good site, the wife and I have stayed at Koh Chang Lagoon Resort a few times, it's nice, bungalow on the beach.

Nice but neither look sea front.

I am looking at this place out on a jetty on the southside of the island ISLAND VIEW RESORT

The also have land based apartments on the hill 100 metres or so away

and apparently a small "free" boat to putter over to the island
Free of charge with the motor dinghy to the near island of dreams

Designer... If you want to have access to 7-11's, bars, lots of food, and coffee shops, stay at 15 Palms on White Sand Beach. Otherwise, there is a quieter place called the Palm Beach Resort further down. I think the Pomfret ( butterfish) is in season now so don't miss having a bite of that!

You may want to ask for a photo of the resort when the tide is out!

Yup. That place is very deserted and run by a mad german. Horses for courses but I'd get up to White Sands for luxury and Lonely Beach for character.

I've stayed with my family at Kacha Resort and Cookies resort, both on White Sands and both very good.

    ^Just don't mention the war.

Other drawback to the place is there's no beach/sand.

Also nice. I've stayed there too and spend most of my days in the 15 Palms restaurant when I'm not staying there.

I stay at the same place everytime with my 11 year old son and wife, the seaside stand alone villas at Klong Prao Resort, Klong Prao Beach. Large King bed, shower and separate large bathtub. The beach is cleaned every morning before you wake up. Very peaceful and beautiful. Go to sleep hearing the waves crashing on the beach. Excellent pool. Hire a motorbike for 200 baht a day. At this time of the year, show up in person, can get the villa for less than 2,000 baht a night. Morning buffet so-so but then again we eat mostly at Paddies Irish

You might find out that it is mud not sand. The resort drains empty into it, not nice.

That's how we felt about that too Sunsetter. There was one rather popular restaurant there with fresh seafood and the drive to get there was nice with waterfalls to walk to and such. But once we finally got there, it felt a little like time had slammed against a brick wall! Quiet though.

    Yeah, fair enough, what reasons?

I have sort of gone off the whole Ko Chang/Pattaya thing and am looking at Nha Trang and Da Nang again.
Really did like it a lot last time.

The owner is not mad. Just a totally inhospitable, antagonistic cnut. Basic basic rooms, more like sheds over murky water. No beach, but you're in the middle of nowhere save a couple of clueless seafood restaurants along a dirt track.

I used it as a base for my boat in K Chang a few years ago and had some guests sleep in the huts ashore. Ok to use to take on water and drop people off, but that's it.

The only entertainment worth mentioning is the spectacle of the Thai navy trying to moor and manouevre their patrol boat. If you think these people can't drive cars - just watch them when they have to control a boat with wind and current to consider.
