Thai Freshwater Fish

Science Name : Cirrhinus microlepis
General Characteristics : Small Scale Mud Carp belongs to Cyprinidae family. It has slim shape, round body and small mouth. The body color ranges from orange-grey to brown-white. It has white belly and brown-grey dorsal fin and caudal fin in color. Its length is about 20 – 30 centimeters.
Habitat / Food : It is found in Chao Phraya River from Ayutthaya to Nakhonsawan. In the north eastern part, it is found along the seaside and the frontier connecting to Kong River.It is omnivorous. It can eat plants, shrimps, insects and embryo of insects.
Behavior / Mating : It is actively and nimbly, never stands still. It is patient, easy to be raised and likes to swim on the bottom layer of water. It is usually found as a small group and hiding along plant roots or rock fold.
