Scientific Name : Dogania subplana

General Characteristics : It is considered as the smallest soft-shelled Turtle in Thailand. Its tortoiseshell is dark-grey, about 1 foot in length and 15 kilograms of weight with expanded black spots. It has red cheek, long neck, short tail, small legs, light grey head with black lines along the back bone to its bottom. For this kind of turtle found at Karnchanaburi are darker without red cheek.

Habitat / Food : It has been found at Burma, Sumatra Island of Indonesia, Philippine and Thailand, especially in Southern part like Chumporn and Korat and some are found at Tak, Kanchanaburi. It likes to eat fish, frog, crab and shrimp.

Behavior / Mating : It prefers to live in swamp and creek and abound in downstream at the mountain. It lays about 3-7 eggs in each time.

Current Status : It is a protected animal of Thailand under Thai Wildlife Protection Act B.E. 2535.
