    Pest Control Question

Is there such a gadget available in Thailand that is wired to the mains some form of Ultra sound device for pest control.

We keep getting rats in the roof my electrician says some kind of gadget is available and also at 3900 baht each unit and I would need 3, I dont mind paying the money I'd like to hear from any guys who might have them in use.

If they do work then that would be cheaper than the pest control companies 1 year contract.

I know of one that can control the birds but i don't want to do that I like the birds around the garden.

Why don't you just put those rat glue mats out. Much cheaper than the machines and they work.
I had geckos inside the car and put two mats on the dashboard overnight. No more gecko's now.

One i was looking at on the internet

Effectively chases away rats, mice, squirrels, ants, fleas, roaches,
waterbugs, and other household pests. Only one unit needed per household (coverage approximately
5,000 sq. ft.) This plug-in unit uses Dual (MagnetoSonic and Ultrasonic) technology - MagnetoSonic Technology works within the wiring of the home creating a unfriendly
place for pests, while working within the living area with Sweeping Sound Ultrasonic Technology. Features an audible test button, night light, three LED status indicators UL and CE approved Two year warranty Size 4 1/4"Hx 71/2"Lx 31/4"W. 6.8 oz.

Adjustable dual, ultrasonic frequency transducers transmit in stereo to maximize the coverage area in the room that the unit is in. This technology is used to alter the normal electrical field around wiring in your home's walls to chase pests from areas you can't access.

No good using a sonic device if you have pets in the house.

    I was only joking Farangred.
What are electronic pest control* devices?

Electronic pest control devices (so called pest "repellers") come in several types. Some claim to repel pest insects, spiders, and rodents by ultrasonic, or very high pitched, sound. Others claim to produce an electromagnetic field that is repellent while newer devices add ionic air cleaning. Typically the small devices are plugged directly into electric wall outlets or through an adapter cord.
The claim is that these devices "drive pests out" of a room, or structure, by a combination of electromagnetic, sonic and/or ultrasonic energy. The idea is, presumably, that the high energy waves are repellent to the various pests -- everything from cockroaches to mice.
*These devices are also called ultrasonic pest control or sonic pest control.

    harmless garden spider

    Do these devices really work?

Unfortunately, no. None of these devices have been scientifically shown to do what they claim they do. I would love to recommend these as a safe alternative to indoor pesticides if they worked -- but, I can't.

The worked for me as I had a rat problem in my shed and they would eat the wires on the bikes. I installed a the electronic device and the problem stopped. They still came in the work shop but didnt nest or hang around.
The nabour living close to the workshop also said that he noticed they had gone from his place.

I use three methods to get rid of rats.

    Sticky mats in the house.

Rat poison in the attic, pink pellets, works a treat.
(I had 5000 baht worth of damage to the aircons)

Rat repelling wood in the car engine bay, works a treat.
(I had 10k baht worth of damage to the wiring loom)

Just wish I had taken action before the damage was done but it has certainly stopped the problems.

Smile Simple electronic replant, make at home!!

This is simple and effective, no HF sound!
    Any one can make this.

1 piece of board about 2 ft sq
2 lengths of wire about 3ft each
    1 extension cord
    Staples to suit

Bare the wires for about 2 and a half feet staple to board in a zigzag pattern about 2 inches apart but never touching.

Place cheese or other food bait in middle of board.

Place board in attic or where ever the rats are.
Plug into extension cord and house outlet.

You might have to clean daily until pests are exterminated.

My neighbour did this to stop cats getting on his truck, but with only 110 volts it did not kill them, just scared the *((*) out of them.
Moved back to LOS, living in Issan

I'll go along with the link.
Testimonial data, such as "I tried it and it worked great!", is not reliable because it is highly subject to the placebo effect which, in the simplest terms, is what happens when people see what they want to see. To be credible the claims must be backed up with proper scientific data.

Each to their own, so I wanted them to stop eating the wires on my bikes and they did.

Mine wasnt a small problem. I came home a couple of times to find a nest and food inside one bike, fuel pump wires completely cut, wiring loom damaged, shot a couple of rats out my pipes. I live facing rice fields
Installed the electronic device none of the ubove has happened since and that was 1 1/2 to 2 years ago.

if the electronic repellers work for you, that's good

there is no evidence they do work, but they are worth a try

wondering if with use of the rat poisoning, that once the rats dies would there be an odor that comes about as a result of decaying flesh of the rat?
