    Siam Ocean World

Decided to visit Bangkok's new aquarium at the Siam Paragon center.

It is not cheap. If you want to go on the glass bottom boat ride add B150 to the admission price.

Ocean World's management had a few suggestions concerning photography. Not many people seem to take notice so you will see occassional flashes of light.

As we started on a tour we saw, well lots of fish...

    Feeding the fish.

It took me awhile to figure out that this lady was talking to the diver in the aquarium.

The B150 glass-bottom boat ride. Our guide spoke both Thai and English. Quite good actually.

This young man gets to be the motor all day long.

The main insides of the massive aquarium.

This is the sunlight to simulate the real thing.

Overall, it was an interesting but fairly expensive outing. Worth at least a tour.

Cheers Hillbilly, always wondered what it was like, just waiting for the little one to be old enough to appreciate it before we go.

you dont mention the lack of living plants -- they are all plastic. you also do not mention the morose seal in a 3 by 3 meter enclosure or the generally VERY unhealthy condition of the fish. on many occasions we spotted dead fish in tanks that obviously were not often cleaned.

i have an aquarium (fish tank) and i come from a city that has a beautiful and very well done public aquarium/marine research facility.. Siam Oceanworld is dirty, cruel and finally, depressing.

If you need to kill time with your kids maybe check it out. if you appreciate and actually want to see aquatic wildlife, give it a wide berth.

    Thanks hillbilly,

But I dont think I will go. I am sort of with ts on this. Its too far from the real thing, and too much the ""thang"" to do. Everytime we go hope we hit a great aquarium. Two years ago Sea World in SD. This year both the Monterey Bay and the SF aquarium.
But I have a feeling its gonna be raining in Pattaya when I go. I shall try their aquarium and we can compare.

Great shots though, the people tunnel one I loved.

One of those can heat a small flat in Newcastle if it's being used.
