Great thread, especially with the noticeable camera upgrade since 2010

    Technical problems.

Can't get the camera to do multiple shots.
I want to get in flight shots - there is only so many photos of birds arses a man can take.

I've downloaded the operating manual, unfortunately i don't possess a degree in gobblydook.

    This is the last picture:

It is a nice picture, I'm not saying it's not, although there is a suggestion that it's a stock picture, I don't know who suggested it, or whether it was suggested, implied or outright stated, but, even though, and I reiterate here, it's a decent picture, I was hoping for some pictures that relate to the thread OP - just sayin.

Here's a short, but appropriate, interlude:

What would be nice, is some pictures of:

(interesting how this group have planned their entire catalogue around Stoker's bird thread...)

    Back on topic.

A bad workman blames his tools.

Eventually i managed to figure out how to take continuous shots with the camera, at which point i realised that these little point and shoot jobbies are ok for holiday snaps but pretty limited when it comes to shooting in flight sunbirds.
Various settings were tweaked, and the camera fired off every couple of seconds - just at the right times to completely miss the action and leave me with photos of absolutely nothing.

Determined not to be beaten, i decided to go and buy a tripod, the logic of which has since leaked from memory.
I nearly purchased another camera to take a photo of the point and shoot mounted on top of a 5 foot tripod - looked absofuckinglutely ridiculous, like some perverted sex toy, and did buggar all to improve matters.

This is the best of a bad bunch - dad returning with food.

Reverting back to type - a few in the nest, chicks about a week old.

This time it was dad doing most of the feeding, i counted 19 visits in less than one hour in the morning.

Use Hi-Speed film? Oh, can't can ya, computer chips won't allow speed fluctuations on point and shoot models.

Nice job again Wal...have looked for any gold in that nest?

Surprisingly good photographs, when taking into account you have a cone up your 'arris and were no doubt hanging out the back end of that tranquilised Asiatic black bear you keep in the cellar.

    Cheers.

Getting to grips with the camera.
Basically, don't use the zoom on it.
Even using a bit of zoom seems to make the picture quality blurry, even on the tripod.
The best results i got were no zoom, and then enlarge on the puter afterwards.

Still got loads of really crap photos though.

Directly upwind would be best. Please set up the camera and tripod to capture the results.

That is a chick eater if ever I saw one. How are you planning to keep that bastard away 24/7???

    Good pictures, well done, Stoker.

I have issued him with an ASBO banning him from the nest.

The chicks have flown already, and the lady is repairing the nest - i sense another laying is imminent.

Is it a rat or a ferret ?

Either way the back of a shovel is the only answer.
