    Critters !!

This thread is about creatures bigger than 4 or 5 cm! This particular critter I nearly ran over driving home from Rawai to Chalong. I never did see the tail end of it, so I don't know how long it was - but it was pretty big!

Knowing very little about "reticulated pythons" at the time, I was very wary about getting too close. The two photographs - with flash - seemed to scare him off and he headed back into the undergrowth.

That's a gorgeous snake. But all I can think of is "pair of 3-inch high heels with matching handbag."

I bought my mate a ball python for his birthday a few years ago.

Cost me 30 quid I think.

Yeah but Mrs Q I don't reckon the one you bought was 3 meters long

Actually rereading your post RDN I just realised that you got out of your car to take that picture.

    NO it was a baby.

    He called it Sheera.

He also had a wild milk snake that hated everybody.

My mate used to get wasted and walk through newcastle city center with a cloth bag with his snake in it going to parties after we had been out clubbing.

    Fucking mental bastard.

He once walked across town with a giant cut out Shrek and his snake in bag at 8:30am on a Saturday morning right through the town center.

    Nobody said anything to him

Yes, but the g/f didn't! I don't mind admitting I was moderately scared and ready to run like the devil if it came for me. But I also always bear in mind that if you pose no threat to an animal, the chances are it'll ignore you.

I'm keeping my camera with me every day now because at the end of my soi there's a biggish pond and I once saw a huge (OK, maybe only 3 feet long) monitor lizard scurrying away into the water. There are a lot of rubbish bins - open wire cages - just there, so maybe he was getting some food. I hope I can snap him sometime soon.
