What Kind of Snake is This

Woke up to my girlfriend yelling at me to get this... spider hu?..mouse hu? Oh snake, out of the house. Just a baby, about 8 inches.
Can anybody tell me what kind of snake this is and would it make a good pet?

Im, no expert, but with those lateral bands it looks like a Krait to me- which means it's venomous, albeit not deadly. Pythons more typically have diamond shaped patterns.

Anyhoo, wait for the experts to arrive. I could be wrong, especially as it's only a bub.

The only pythons I'm aware of in Thailand are blood pythons, burmese pythons, or reticulated pythons. It is none of the three for certain. Pythons tend to have an elongated head and I am very familiar with them. It is difficult to see the head in the picture, but I think that is a young pit viper due to the triangular shaped head. There are many species of pit vipers in Thailand and they are dangerous. My first thought was a young white lipped pit viper.

What part of the country are you in and do you have a better picture of the head? Patterns can be quite different on young snakes than they look on an adult. Taking a clear look at the head and knowing location will help with identification.

Ahh, much better pic. I don't think it's a Krait then- those are not bands.

Not poisonous but can give you a nasty bite. The one you have is a baby so likely no worries.

Yea, it looks much different in that pic. Not a pit viper.

Yes 2nd pic much better. not a constrictor. Looks like what we in the US call a garter snake. Different markings than in the US but same shape. Probably an ambush predator feeding on small lizards and insects.
