Just shows it's a matter of taste. I bought a bottle of Benmore based on a post here and found it a bit sweet for my taste; almost syrupy. Went back to Pipers. I like the way it totally removes the mucous membrane from my mouth and throat. Nothing like that deep burning feeling to remind you why you're drinking in the first place.

Bowmore is a Single Malt with quite a smoky flavour - Benmore I haven't tried although remember seeing it on my last trip to Thailand.

Was that Bangkok airport where you bought the fake bottle of whisky Mr Earl?

It's happened twice now to me. Once with a bottle of Glenmorangie I bought at the airport and again once locally with a bottle of Famous Grouse.
From now on when I buy a bottle of whiskey that comes in a box I'm going to check the seal of the bottle.

In the early 90's Chivas used to be what Black is today. Unfortunately for Chivas, counterfeit bottles from Laos started appearing and sales plummeted. Good for Johnny Walker, though.


My favourite scotch - Isle of Jura.
