I did see a few single malts in 'Gourmet Wine Cellar' in Siam Paragon - fairly expensive though (more than back in UK).

they had a bottle of Louis 13 Cognac for 76K Baht!

I settled for a bottle of Ukrainian wheat vodka (500B) - quite nice stuff.

Talisker is the only whisky distilled on Skye. It has a very peaty taste.

I have a bottle of 15 year old and 25 year old I bought Duty Free still sitting on the shelf.

Talisker is also one of the signature whiskys used in Johnnie Walker blends.

Might be slightly off bounds folks..(hey i have to increase the post count. No ?)

But 100 pipers is available [at] 7000 rupees a crate ( that's dozen bottles of 750 ml) here in India.

Few tips and tricks for you, if you are in this part of the planet.

Try to buy it from Union territories (read less taxes) and if you are around 31st March, prices get real knocked down. The new excise year starts from april.

I do my bulk shopping for the year only around that time.. and Rajasthan and Haryana are cheaper for the booze

As I said in a previous post I drink Mekhong/soda/diet coke but i do like a straight malt ( partial to Jack Daniels as well !)
Those who travel Japanwise or to Taiwan should try Santory Samurai - it is a single Japanese malt and bloody good!
I have a friend in Edinburgh who is the chairman of his local 'water of life' appreciation society and they have inter club competitions consisting of tasting and then saying which distillery made it !
For xmas the other year I sent him a bottle of Samurai and a bottle of Mekhong.
He used them in their new years competition, entered the Mekhong as a joke and was nearly forced to resign
However nobody guessed the Samurai but all agreed it was from the Outer Hebridies area - nearly caused a riot when they were told what it was !
    It is good stuff !
