Doesn't mean it's bad, just means it;s not good enough to release under the intended brand/label/vintage.
If a batch tuns out sub par for a $50 or $100 label, you might pick it up as a $2-5 cleanskin, or, the sell it to wholesalers who make up a "winery and pedigree" like 16 pigs and sell it off in direct sales.
You can get some excellent bargains, but are unlikely to find them again due to the nature of the supply.
You never know, you might be drinking almost grange at 2 bucks a glass.
