Really nice thread and beautiful pictures. And you're right to travel by train. It is such a nicer introduction in a city to come in the railway station than a bus station. I've travelled all thai train lines and it's a wonderful souvenir.

Monkeys are a cross between rats and yobbos.

Great set of pix and info. Thank you. I hope you shar the Triangle set. FYI: Suwannaphum, south of Roi-ET, has monkeys roaming free on the grounds of the 700 year old Wat (temple) just south of town. But, they stick to the temple grounds and the woods nearby. Here, they 'steal' anything not tied down - even try to take handgags from the women. Very comical - if you are not a victim...

thought about going there..then i thought about how much of a pain in the arse those monkeys would be! looks almost plague like, i reckon down the track a bit they are gonna need some control measures taken..untill then looks like fun, for a bit

I stay in that area. Further along the 2023 road past Srithat and you get to Wangsammo.
I spent a couple of hours in Kumpawapi with the monkeys the other day. There's more and more everytime I go. Fun to feed them, they just walk right up and take things from your hand. (But you need a strong grip on the food bag, buggers like to creep up and nick the whole bag)

Lopburi Isn't famous for bars but we managed to find these guys who worked at the "Come on Bar". Tobey on the left was a genuinly nice guy and we had great fun downing JW Black with them, I kept in touch with him for a year or so but now I haven't been back for a while.

Lopburi is always a nice little excursion and this bar as always been good fun. There is a decent restaurant opposite aswell
