I think I've caught covid, yet again. Fever, coughing and generally feeling like someone has beaten me with a baseball bat.

Hope you feel better soon. I don't know when you're leaving and I don't know if you'll have trouble boarding a plane (fever) back home.

Might be something to think about.

Get well soon, tops. I think there's a new variant of covid circulating (j something?). You probably got it at the airport - lots of people bringing viruses and we're not as vigilant anymore re: hand sanitizers, etc (at least I'm not). I also had a cold/ flu-like a week ago.

3 day thing and all will be fine. You have the dreaded Bangkok flu. Common for farangs and less so Thais subjected to Bangkok's less than optimal environment.

I'm feeling much better today, I might actually go out of the condo and check out the mall Bangkapi.

    Does the excitement ever end?

I taught for a couple of hours this morning and then it was off to the mall Bangkapi. It's been remodeled and looks less tired than it did before and there was tons of eye candy, my lord. To balance that out though, my wife was like a beagle in a forest inhabited by thousands of squirrels. I think from here on out, I'll let her go shopping with the nieces. One "score" for me was the Gourmet Market. I got some decent deli meat for sandwiches, again, does the excitement ever end?

My dearest went out and bought a bunch of veggies for a salad this evening. We simply could not believe the difference in taste and freshness, the veggies here are much better than the PI.

Tops, when you're in Bacolod, do you buy your vegs from supermarkets like SM or Robinson's? If yes, then that's prolly why your vegs don't taste as good. I buy my vegs from the local palengke/ mercado/ wet market. The veg are usually fresh & taste good. If your "highland" vegs like carrot, cabbage, iceberg lettuce, potatoes, broccoli, etc come from Luzon, then they prolly come from the highlands of Baguio & surrounds. They've had to travel great distances & that may affect the freshness & taste.

(yeah, I agree that Thai & Vietnamese food taste better. But for the veg, I think it's the source + travel time.)

We buy from local farmers for the most part who have stands in outdoor area at Ayala. If they're out of stock, we head inside the mall.

I think the lettuce and cucumbers come from the south of Negros.

^maybe it's due to the soil & microclimate in Negros island. I've tasted veg in PH (in my area & others), in VN & TH - same same.

I think it's your source of veg in Bacolod & not PH veg per se. I've gone to Baguio several times, have made salads from Baguio vegs - no complaint. (Most of the highland veg sold in Metro Manila & surrounds come from Baguio & neighboring towns/ provinces.)

Oddly enough, my wife is a very tiny lady, stature wise at least. I think she's got size 4 feet, so every time she passes a shoe store, she has to check to see if there's something in her size.

There were lots of clothing shops that needed inspecting as well.

Late lunch at Burger Bros is the plan for this afternoon, time for a burger review.

I used to dance with a lady like that. Her friends used to joke that she could hang her shoes from the rear vision mirror and people would think they were like those fuzzy dice ornaments popular at one time.
