    Koh Phi Phi: Any advice?

I know this isn’t the ideal time of year to be visiting Phi Phi, but unfortunately, we don’t have a choice. We’re flying down to Phuket, and then over to Phi Phi for five days. Anyone have any experiences they want to share about Phi Phi? Resort advice?

    Cheers

Well unless you are immune to cabin fever and are ok with being stuck in your resort, I would rule out anywhere at Long Beach or some of the more remote beaches. Much of the footpath to long Beach is paved, but also much of it not very nice when it rains and you want to go into town. It being low season it should be possible to get a reasonable (for Phi Phi) price at one of the resorts around the edge of town

Last time I visited was 25 years ago - it was lovely. Took out a fisherman on a decent sized boat for the day = $20. Lovely eating in the restaurants close to the docks. The paths were nice although some of the monkeys were a little cheeky. Have a great time and do a photothread.

4 years ago, my youngest daughter and her family wanted to spend a couple of days on Phi Phi, and I tagged along with them. They booked the Phi Phi Island Village resort, which turned out to be a good choice. I hadn't been to Phi for about 12 years, and wasn't a fan of the main area where the boats arrive and depart. The resort was quite a way from all that, up on the east coast. Accommodation was all individual hut type villas, and very comfortable. Good swimming pool, with a swim up bar, and taking a path out of the resort, a few yards from a village that has quite a few different bars and restaurants, but very laid back. This was in September, so very much low season, and I have no idea how its fared since Covid. Within the village there was a tour place that specialised in long tail trips. My daughter and family booked to May Bay and various places to snorkel, and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
