    river view guest house

This photo is taken near the marine department pier. To the far left of the photo you will see a white building approx 8 floors high.
This is the river view guest house. It has very affordable rooms and a great restaurant on the roof with brilliant views of the river especially at night.
Theres a French dude who has rented a room on the 7th floor for 10 years.

    Thanks.
More Chinatown, Yeowarat rd. is one of the most congested in Bangkok:

Patong Go, a greasy breakfast 'bread', not bad into hot Soy milk:

    "Texas" restaurant:

...and the back-soi with "Texas Massage" and other lively lunch-time 'trade':

I always thought this building was condemned (a local journo told me) and it had been empty for years due to the cost of knocking it down.

Maybe a few million baht in a brown envelope made the building safe again?

    ^

It was vacant for years, the hilton group bought it and got it up running again.

Took along time to renovate but it looks ok except for this weird scaffolding they have covering the front of it.

    Phra sumen fort

Built in 1781 on santichaiprakan park this fortress was designed to defend the city against invasion.
Located on the river near banglamphu and a haven away from the madness of khao san road

    The river ferry.

The orange flag on the public ferry means it stops at every pier on the river.
The ferry is a brilliant way to get around and see some interesting sights in the process.
