Well this weekend we had a little boat trip round the Island of Ayutthaya and also got to see the other Islands.
The boats are probably the best way to go round the Island and I think work out to about 300baht per hour, but this is money well spent as you can go into the attractions that would normally charge for free as they got nobody checking who comes in from the river, defineately reccommend the Elephant Kraal
Anyway Ken May arranged everything and off we went to the Chinese market off of U Thong Road, thehave also got a nice Chinese Temple there but that can go in a differant thread.
A word of warning, do not allow crazy Welsh men to go with you on these boats, they seem to have no fear of capsizing these tiny little boats on the swollen rivers of Ayutthaya and leaving you to drown, nope you don't get life jackets but we are well hard
I got to admit it didn't start off so good when we first pushed off and the engine hadn't been started and we drifted off down stream and crashed into another boat that was zooming along, still the drivers didn't seem to mind so I assume it is quite normal to crash into other boats, after that we was off.
It's actually nice and cool down on the river with a good breeze so it is a good place to get away from the heat and is also a good way to see parts of Ayutthaya that you would not normally get the chance to see, a lot of the houses have started to be flooded out and as the rainy season continues it will probably get worse, Yep, Ken will be Kayaking to school again this year
First off we donethe whole round trip round the Island and then hit the Elephant Kraal, next we started going up some of the Klongs, these were filled up with wild killer snakes and Monitor Lizards, they weren't scared of us I should add, luckily the locals have eaten all the crocodiles that used to hang round these parts so our boat was relatively safe.
Our driver for the day.
One of the Boats.
These buggers had no respect and zoomed along trying to drown people on the small boats.
A period of calm.
