Chiang Khan route 212 Feb 2016

On the way to Chiang Khan we came across this great little spot sitting over looking the Mekong River. The Hand Bag was getting a tad hungry so it was time for her Noodle soup hit.

Route 212 is a fantastic road that winds its way along the Mekong, very interesting drive or ride with some cracking little towns along the way. We were here home of the great Mekong Cat Fish.

This is an awesome ride with many sections of the road recently repaved. A group of local Thai riders on a run from Udon were in the restaurant.

This Guy had a Go-Pro on the back which I suppose ain't a bad idea. Not much chop though after Somchai the Retard truck driver runs you over and kills you.

We order up a feed, a hot cup of green tea and settle in for a lovely lunch over looking the Mekong. Happy days indeed and all for under a hundred baht. I love touring Thailand, the value is simply sensational and I meet brilliant friendly locals on every trip.

The river was at it's lowest level in a very long time so the Government are busy building flood levies while they have the chance. Lots of Work going on in many places along the river.

Still a bit of water around looking down the other direction of the river. Bloody dry in general though.

I'm wandering around outside taking pics when the local meals on wheels guy rocks up. The restaurant dude walks out to buy his stock for the day.

^^ Crickets for food or fish bait?

Nice little vending truck set up he's got there.

Great location. Makes me want to visit.

Great stuff Terry. I was wondering when you would do another pic thread. We missed our chance for a Mekong tour this round. We will plan for next Dec. I do fancy the I'm retired so you can go fuck your face attitude. It must drive half these nuts crazy. Just an observation by the response to the "your gaff is too small bs."

Keep it up, deep down you know we love you man. Well at least we have the same taste in music anyway. I can only hope to be in your shoes one day! Retired and another trip away from a great day.

PS fish eat crickets. Only if they are deep fried. The little ants are lemon flavor btw.

Thanks for the pics, Terry. I've only seen the Mekong from a bus (phnom penh to saigon). One day I hope to see it up close. Cheers!
