Actually it is sort of religious - it was a pre-Buddhist religous ceremony that survived into modern times because it's fun. Sort of like Halloween!

That's lucky, 'cos we spent the evening at home after a very pleasant meal at the local Korean BBQ shack.

Had a quiet one this evening, just attending the local bonfire and following the monk and the crowd to the river to float our kratongs.

They say if a couple float a krathong together they'll be soulmates for eternity. A crock of shit, no? Divorced her in April. About time to. LK no longer has any meaning.
