6 more than I guessed . But still more to come, I'm afraid. The question is: how many more deaths were there over Songkran compared to a "normal" 8 day period?

    Briton held over acid attack

A Norwegian tourist and a Thai boy were yesterday injured by mild acid shot at them from a water gun by a foreign man near the Hard Rock Hotel in Pattaya in Chon Buri province.

Police later arrested British man John Mascer Nicholas, who denied jetting water at both victims but the father of the boy positively identified the suspect. There is no information available to confirm whether Nicholas was the attacker seen running into the hotel after squirting the dangerous liquid.

Both victims had red and itchy rashes on their bodies but are now in a safe condition.

The boy's father said the suspect was with two Western women

and merged into a large crowd. The suspect then shot water from a
high-powered gun at the boy, 10, and Herwint Scoopler, 32, the father said.

The Songkran Festival arrives in Naklua, some fighting but mostly a fun day.
The 18th April is the official day for Sonkgran in the Naklua area. Our journalists were in the thick of the action and sacrificed their clean and dry cloths to bring you these pictures. As you can see, the roads were jammed and both Thais and Foreigners joined together to enjoy the Songkran Festivities. There were a few incidents where young Thai men became over-excited and decided that a punch-up should be included in their Songkran celebrations. One fight that we witnessed was particularly violent with two men receiving serious head wounds. They were taken away by rescue workers. The regulations pertaining to the use of water firing tubes were ignored and Police officers were few and far between and were unable to keep much control over their use. Despite the small pockets of fighting, the majority of people thoroughly enjoyed the day and everyone is now looking forward to the chaotic scenes moving a few hundred meters down the road to Pattaya on 19th.

Oh, that's all right then - as long as the majority thoroughly enjoyed themselves who cares about 500 dead people, cowardly moron bastards spraying acid, etc, etc.

Can't wait to find out what happened in Pattaya!! I bet there'll be some old scores settled there! no doubt followed by...
