Some excellent work there Bob, I particularly like the mates/tables/lights on the beach - you captured the perfect time of day, the cat I like also. You know exactly what you're doing, have you done any professional work?
I have been asked a couple of times if I include photography as part of my business but I only really use my modest Samsung NV10 to take shots for DVD artwork and though I have the eye for it I don't have the technical knowledge or equipment.
So, next time I get asked I may be able to put some work your way.

If you have the eye for it, it shouldn't matter what camera you use. Just look at Bustak's piccies with his modest compact Canon or the plastic camera he uses.Originally Posted by The Gentleman Scamp

TGS, depends on what it is, for example if someone asked me to do a model shoot, it would be rubbish, just not interested. I've no great technical ability, there are many theories I have no clue about, I just like 'travel photography'.
As for working in photography, I'm building up what i think are my best shots for submittal to a major travel photography stock library. If they sell they sell, but it's not something i follow. My day job takes more than enough out of me.

that'd be this one....Originally Posted by benbaaa
We definitely need a 'sailing over ones head' smiley don't we, what I meant was that my modest Samsung NV10, good for what it is - would be laughed at if I turned up to a photo shoot or a wedding with it calling myself a professional photographer.
Filters, fish eye lenses and all the other expensive equipment and accessories will compliment the work of somebody who has an eye for photography and knows how to use it which Bobcock does. I've taken some great shots with what I have, and I've enhanced and improved them with software such as Photoshop and i-photo.
Could KW and Benbaa explain the meaning behind their last two posts, I very much doubt it. I commented on this thread to compliment Bobcock's shots, Benny and the chimp are taking the only kind of shots they are capable of.
explanation doth dilute.
Very artful pics. Nice work.
nice. makes me long for a vacation
These are truly fantastic shots. Any tips on how to get low light / evening shots like that? It sure doesn't work on the default settings...
I heartily agree with King Willy... as I always do.
The intensification of the holiday developments on Koh Samet is insidioius and very sad.
Even so I still love the place.
Indeed I was even moved to write a novel about an English lad, Ben who falls for Fon, a lovely Thai girl working as a masseuse on the beach at Koh Samet.
I think King Willy's read it.

Did you move Ao Nang from Krabi to Koh Samed as well?
A piece of shite book, too. I recommend no one reads it.Originally Posted by Andrew Hicks

Mind you, is mats on the beach a bad thing, after all what would you prefer built up restaurants on piers? Mats on the beach is very backpackerish, or are you guys in a pre back packer state?
Frankly I like a nice resort with all the luxuries, Samed is a bit under developed for me.
Nice pics indeed ,,,,,, its great to have a hobby you enjoy like this ,, its one of my hobbies along with painting ( which I find very difficult in the Thai heat ) . It brought back many memories for me on Koh Samet ,, they only thing they dont convey is the smell from that part of the island , mabe they have done something about it now its been about 3 years since I was there. Well done again !
Those are some mighty fine photos..Well done.
Great Photos, I.ve been Samed many times and they really captured the place, can't wait to return there
But they could do fuck all about it because it would be too late to get someone else with proper equipment at short notice. You could even sell them the camera after.Originally Posted by The Gentleman Scamp
