This is what the roads generally look like, only few paved ones.

Seems like rubber plantation is the main money earner here.

Neverland Resort, not in any way affiliated with Michael Jackson to the best of my knowledge
This place was absolutely deserted even in the middle of the high season, just before Christmas.

Notice the sailboat in the background? That belonged to a german guy, he sailed his boat from Patty to Koh Kood making numerous stops along the way. That guy sure figured out how to spend his retirement in a most enjoyable manner.

    Peacator...
Nice report and great photos! Much appreciated.
Are private bikes allowed and is the boat to the island large enough to transport a motorcycle for use on the island?? I usually travel around SEA via motorcycle...
    Thx.

Private bikes are allowed. But you will not be able to bring it onboard a speed boat. I did hear, however, that there is also a "slow boat" like a fishermans vessel. You should be able to bring it on this one. Sorry, I cannot supply you with any information as to from where it leaves.

Nothing like bringing your own wheels. I understand that

nice thread, wish i had some koh kood pics to add, but lost the memory stick with them on and
You nailed the spot! If you return, you will notice how this place will have a disproportionate high number of danish visitors. When we returned from the trip, I found out that a danish travel guide had just been published: "Michael`s secret guide to the best hidden gems in Thailand". And Siam Beach received an overwhelmingly positive review.
My buddy goes to Siam Beach 5-6 times a year: "It`s just like Amager Strandpark (danish beach) these days"

The big katoey? You mean the chinese looking fella with the underhung jaw? He was hilarious, entertaining the entire restaurant. Dont think he was katoey though, just fooling around.

Too bad you lost your mem stick, would have loved to see some more pictures from Koh Kood.

    Cheers
yep katoey, well wanna be katoey anyway, haha

i was the only farang on there when i went, was around october i think, amazing little cove that place is set in,perfect beach, might take a trip there very soon infact

You would wanna here good things from that place as a family room costs 9,000 baht a night!

Any recommendations for say under 3 grand?

KKR is expensive, but don't they operate on the 'package' system where you cannot book 1 or 2 nights, you can only book their 3 night package all inclusive of food and tours etc etc ??

    I want to go.

For more info the island and it's neighbors see tezza's blog and travelfish.org, and of course search TT forum of Lonely Planet for many posts.
Tezza's blog is one of the best places to find info on the southern islands - when I went exploring down south for a month, his blog was invaluable.

The Beach Natural Resort, Koh Kood, Trat , Thailand

This resort is on the same beach as the one illustrated in the pictures. I went to see it for myself, it`s more upmarket and with more guests. hhm, still outside of your price bracket

    Here is at comprehensive list.

    Accommodation Koh Kood

I wouldnt pick a beach to the south of Bang Bao beach. As the roads are in a very poor state and easy to feel very isolated, besides I hardly saw any guests there. Mayby for a reason.

right, theres a boat/ferry at 9 am from laem sok, also one at 1 pm

so either book an early taxi to get you there for the 1 pm ferry

or take a bus to trat then stay the night and catch the early ferry

i know which one id prefer

Getting to Koh Kood, Plane, Car, Bus, Boat

Ko Kut travel guide - Wikitravel this one just about does it all, hmmm im thinking koh kood for a little look, see how much its changed..... pickel? can you make a booking for me mate?

Can we get this thread deleted?

Wouldn't you like to preserve the island just as it is.

Us lot talking about how unspioled it is will only send it the way of Phi-Phi and Kho Samui etc.

I can make it in a day from here and wish it to stay my favourite spot in all of the LOS.

    MODS, please?
