Yes that is a good price.
So why are they so much dearer for the Dusit Island in Chiang Rai ?

Seems like they are very cheap for hotels in Pattaya , eg, 15 nights in Dusit = £661,
in Hilton £961 .
Looks about same or bit more for other hotels . More cheaper then dearer ones .
What about Booking.com: 286,750 hotels worldwide. 18+ million hotel reviews. I have found that they not only have hotel rooms, but short term rentals in places like Phuket and Pattaya. They seem to have some reasonable rates and I like to use them because most of the time they do not charge a booking fee until you reach the hotel and they also have a good cancellation process.
Booking.com are very good, usually can rely on them to find a hotel I want within about 500m from my desired location, and you narrow the search down to your own criteria and check out reviews of most of them.
Latestays.com has some excellent last-minute deals if you're making a booking two weeks or less before your arrival.
With agoda.com you generally have to pay upfront.
Booking.com lets you "reserve" the room(s) and you pay later. It's very handy if you find another better deal and want to cancel the first one.
has anyone used their agoda points ?
what are the hidden charges ? is it worth it ?
Nothing hidden. I took $25 or 30 off a booking a couple times before they expired. Agoda is usually cheapest. If Hotels.com is close, I book w/them since they give 1 free/10 stays. Compare sites at Hotels Combined. Latestays is worth a look & you can book months in advance now. At the Omni, if you don't get a refurbished room the place sucks. There's the hotel and a syndicate of condo owners both renting rooms accounting for the price differences. They both are on Agoda I think. Orbitz and their affiliates (Cheap Tickets & Ebookers) have been putting out some nice codes lately (15-25%) and undercutting everybody. Here's a good one, $50 off on a $200 spend - CHEAP50 at Cheap Tickets.
Agoda is pretty good except for the plus plus business--its worth checking the hotels own website to see if they have any special promotions -EG stay 3 pay 2 nights which wont necessarily be shown on Agoda
I have found great deals with Agoda by booking through the 'Friday' deals they send you by email, recently stayed in a genuine 4 star hotel in Siem Reap for $30 per night inc breakfast.
Regards agoda ( and booking .com)
your just as good to use priceline (up to 201, 000 hotels) as agoda and booking.com are a subsidies of priceline
Agoda..The company was established in 2005 by two veterans of the online travel business and in 2007 was acquired by Priceline Group, the largest seller of rooms online. Priceline Group is publicly traded on NASDAQ (Nasdaq: PCLN) and is a part of the S&P 500.I worked for Agoda when they were Planet Holiday in phuket in the late 90's which became PrecisionReservations.com before morphing into AgodaBooking.com B.V., part of Priceline.com (Nasdaq: PCLN), owns and operates Booking.com™

Yes, used it on the last trip to Thailand. Got about $30 off the room.Originally Posted by baldrick

I turned up at a hotel in Hua Hin once and asked what the lowest possible room rate was as I was gonna ask the same at all hotels in the area. When I told her I could get it about 40% cheaper on Agoda and if she gave me it at that price they would save the commission she said no. I asked if I could use their internet that was next to reception, jumped onto Agoda, waited 10mins for receipt then turned around and paid cash at the desk.
Lang may yer lum reek...
Wotif.com is the best alternative I've found to Agoda, and I've gotten some good deals through them.
They have "mystery hotels" which allow the hotels to sell off excessive rooms without degrading their brand by advertising too cheap a price. I've booked at least 10 rooms at different hotels this way and have gotten some great bargains, including the Dusit Thani for less than $100 a night. Some have not been the hotel I expected, but all were an excellent price and I've never been disappointed once the hotel name came up.
For example, Look today under Silom, they have a 4 star mystery hotel for $50 usd a night including all taxes, that hotel is the Novotel Fenix Silom.
Also, all the prices Wotif quotes include the 17% tax and service fees, agoda does not.
Will never use Agoda on the principal that the company takes over any online hotel search you try do..and on the 1st (& only) occasion I used them, after jumping thru' all the booking hoops my order could not be processed because they would only accept credit cards, not debit ones..I always find satisfaction by matching/beating their prices..& booking direct.
Ah, that's right! That's why I turned up without prior booking! No credit card. But at that hotel I was able to pay on arrival.
I just use Welcome to - We Beat The Agent - WELCOME for longer stays and gt them to find the best deal online.
I always check out Booking.com, Agoda and Priceline to compare prices. I also like the fact that you pay at the hotel for most Booking.com reservations and you can cancel with no fee up to 24 hours prior to checkin. It is also a quick and easy website to use.
Priceline owns Agoda and Booking.com Yet you can see different fees.
Agoda and booking.com are the same owned by Priceline who also own many others.
