Anyone be in Angeles City over Christmas?

    Hi All,

Travelling to Phils and will be in AC from Dec 24 until Jan 7. Staying at Royal Amsterdam Hotel on Fields Ave.

Anyone know this hotel; good, bad, bloody horrible?

If anyone is in town, I'd be keen to catch up for a drink or 12.

Any tips or tricks, do's and don'ts etc from anyone who has been would be appreciated.

much too much time for AC, 3 - 4 days max

Take a 2 hr bus to Subic at least for a few days. Harleys Hotel, Baloy Beach

Plane to Cebu even better, Moalboal (Quo Vadas Resort) or Bantayan Island (Moby Dicks). Google em up. BYO lady from AC or pickup in Cebu city before going to beach town..

I am in Moalboal now, very relaxing low pace beach town. World class diving and snorkeling. Took a lady from Cebu with me, great time.

Back to LOS next week if anyone misses me.

FYI .... BKK-MNL-BKK Kuwait Air is cheap. TigerAir, Cebu Pacific flies BKK-CLK-BKK

^Hey Dave. Hope you have a good trip! I am not an AC fan, but there have been a number of threads done on AC that provided some web sites with a lot of info on bars, etc. I would totally agree with Lorenzo - that's way too much time in AC. Even if you don't want to travel much or far, I would really recommend a trip to Olangapo (Subic) for a day or three - do it early in your trip, you might decide you want to stay there rather than returning to AC. And remember, Xmas in the PI is scam time in the PI (even more than usual) - be careful! The cops in AC have really been on a rampage in the past few months.

    PM sent to you.

i 2nd that. you can have fun anywhere. just stay away from that place. Beaches are always better than cities. A filipina walking the beaches in a bikini with her pals has got to be better than sitting in a dirty bar right?

Spent last Christmas on Malapascua Island.

That could be but I doubt it. I never saw any violence or intimidation directed at foreigners in Phils, see it every day in Thailand tourist areas. Better chance of being assaulted in Thailand than Phils.

^AC has had a bad year. Several ex-pats have been murdered, not counting the four or five who were killed by a home computer repair guy who was eventually caught. I personally had one friend murdered there eleven years ago by machine gun wielding cops from Mexico, Pampanga, plus another friend two years or so ago shot off of his motorcycle but survived. I get the police reports nationwide each month, which include a section on crimes against foreigners. Most are in the restless, dangerous south, but AC generally ranks right up there. That having been said, I agree that your chances of getting robbed, assaulted, drugged, ripped off by the cops, etc are far worse in Thailand (specifically Phuket and Pattaya) than here in the PI, quite probably simply because there are so many more foreigners living there.
