    Visiting US from Thailand

    Hi folks

I'd managed to avoid visiting the USA for quite a while. In fact the last time I was there we went up the twin towers in NY...

But I want to be in NY for three days or so end of July. Does anyone have suggestions for best route from Bangkok? I will return via London so a RTW ticket? Ideally on Star alliance so I can use lounges etc.- I'll probably go in economy.

Do Brits need a visa for USA now? Or can I still fill in the waiver on the plane?

    Thanks for any advice.

I recently booked a round trip from BKK to LaGuardia (for the Christmas/new year’s holiday), using United Airlines.

BKK, O’Hare then LaGuardia, hope it helps.

    Gonna check it out, thanks

Best I've found so far this morning seems to be BA from Delhi via London in biz for 120 k baht, plus a cheap TG economy to Delhi....

Whole trip about 140k baht but the long bits on a bed. No star alliance tho...

If your looking for a good price, try China Eastern. You will change planes in Shanghai. I flew them to the USA last October and the service was quite good and the price was much less than any other airline. I booked my flight through Orbitz. The Chinese airlines are all owned at least partially by the Government and they seem to be much cheaper than any other.
My R/T ticket was only $900 with taxes. The plane was a fairly new Airbus A-340-600.

You need to register online before you fly, then give your photograph, fingerprints, DNA and a kidney on arrival.

All this before a flamboyant TSA agent massages your genitalia and blows kisses and his phone number in your ear.

Then a non-English speaking Armenian taxi driver will rip you off and take 3 hours to do the 5 mile journey to your hotel, before Carlos the Puerto Rican bellboy offers to sell you drugs or whores in return for a completely disproportionate tip.

Ah, the magic that is New York.

yes you need to do that at
    https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/esta.html

    think its $14

Then when you get to America forget about the special relationship- they fingerprint you ,interrogate you and finally let you in .

rtw ticket deal got to be best , must be cheaper than buying several singles yourself ,cannot help much with the route ,a long time ago I went to USA San Fransico via japan

Don't forget to hit Rudy's Pub on 9th Ave around 44th Street. Pitchers are $7 - $8 and free hotdogs. There is a big 8 foot Pig in front of the place. Quality!

Give a shout, meet for a pitcher

    Thanks all!

Thai to Delhi then Virgin upper class to ny allows free stopover in London for 125k - weird, less than cost of London to ny!

Buying tg ticket next week when in pnom penh - same price as ex bkk but get free bkk to pp return too.

Immigration in Boston once asked me if I had been a member of the Nazi party of Germany. I told him no, I wasn't old enough. Wrong answer......
