    Excess baggage charges??

I`ve always been under allowed baggage allowance
on London/Heathrow to Bangkok flights before
but was wondering how much excess baggage charges are.

I usually fly Thai or Eva, Cathay(via HK) would also be an option.
Assuming 20kg as the allowed weight, has anyone any idea
on how much I would be charged for being say 5 or 10 kg
    over limit?
    Thanks.

airlines formula is 1% of first class fare per kg overweight...
it's not always applied but they can if they want...
better to open your bag and leave all you daks on their counter and buy again once you're in Thailand...

I just came back from Thailand on Northwest/Delta and they have recently changed their baggage allowance from 2 small carry-on and 2 bags at 50 lbs each to only one bag at 50 lbs plus the carry-on. Bastards are trying to cut fuel costs by allowing less baggage even on international flights. This will probably become the norm.

You can do a seach on the airline you are flying with and look under baggage because each airline is different and the rules do change. I would take note of baggage rules on ticket purchase because on this last trip they tried to charge me for the second bag, but I bought the ticket before the new rules.

problem is that once over 5kg's they will charge you for all of it over.

eg: Singapore used to allow 25kg, but the actual calculation was based on 20kgs, so $30 per kilo from 20kgs
