    Don muang advice

A couple of weeks ago I booked our tickets to Laos for December, Logistics are not easy in these post covid times seems it's still not easy and also expensive perth to Bangkok. So this time it's airasia via Bali. About 2 days after deciding on this option and booking it I get an email that the schedules totally changed and not in my favour this will cost me quite a few fun vouchers to sort . I'm done moaning about it but now I gotta sort this shit out. Fixed most of it already but I need to stay a night in Don muang, noteven a night as we arrive about 10.00 then have a flight booked to udon thani at 6.00 am so I'm guessing we need to be checking in about 4.00 am what a fucking pain in the ass. Was just trying to change it to a later flight but fuck me that nok websites not making it easy. If it was just me I wouldn't give a fuk but I've got Mrs bld and the shark biscuits it's not easy to travel with that lot. I'm the guy pays for it all and when it goes pear shaped they turn on me. Any suggestions. Hotel nearby for a bit of shut eye. Not the Amari.thats great but to expensive for 6 hours

Oh yeah. They had me arriving in bali about 2 hours after my Bangkok connection so now I'm spending a night in Bali instead of transit. Me and the kids need visas the wife doesn't. The plan was to spend 3 nights in Bali on the way back now I'm up for 2 x visas . Plus the 3 I gotta pay in $usd in lao for me and the kids.

With that short time period perhaps you should really think about the airport hotel or this new service just for the ease. Getting taxis at that hour is not that easy and you are going to be tired and could be stressed. Both the Amari and this are about the same price 2500B. Some times you just have to grin and bear it.

I think we talked about this, didn't we, at the start of the year after I'd got back having been in a similar situation to BLD (but not quite so early)?

BLD, I stayed here at the famous old Rama Gardens Hotel Bangkok on NYE.

    I paid about 1300 THB.

The facilities are decent too but you won't have time for them...

    Taxis were waiting outside.

Less than 10 minutes in a Joe to the airport.

Asia Airport Hotel is another option.
Same location as Zeer Rangsit, just up the road from Don Muang

Yeah I've stayed at the Amari before and love the convenience of the overhead walk way and not needing a taxi but at $200 for what's essentially a 6 or 7 hour layover I'm reluctant
Of course I've gotta put the kids first or am I over thinking it? If it was just me then get a couple of frostys and crash out on a bench

If checking in around 10pm and out 4am there must be some cheap n cheerful places across the road on Songprapa. Take a look on booking.com

I'm surprised you can even book many of those gaffs online.

    That place looks ok though.

I know it doesn’t help now, but never book a low cost airline to fly international. In the end it just ain’t worth it.

Unfortunately there's not a lot of choice between Perth and bkk covid has fucked it. My problem is always compounded by the fact there's 4 of us so to go with a real airline is just to much plus I would need to go via Sydney or melbourne
